IGP Loses Suit Seeking To Stop Senate’s Invitation by ebusnwaoma: 4:14pm On Oct 02, 2018
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris who approached a Federal High Court in Abuja, to stop senate's invitation for a legislative hearing, has lost his suit.

IGP Idris who filed after two successive invitations by the Senate, saw his suit ruled out by Justice John Tsoho who said his excuse for not honouring the Senate’s invitation was not tenable. The Judge who agreed with the Senate and its President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, who were the two defendants, that the suit was only aimed at preventing the Senate from carrying out its legitimate and constitutional responsibility, said the suit amounted to an abuse of court process.

The IGP's second suit in which he sought an order quashing the May 9, 2018 resolution of the Senate declaring him “an enemy of democracy and unfit to hold any public office within and outside Nigeria”, had the Judge withdrawing from the case. Punch reported that he sent the case file back to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Adamu Abdu-Kafarati, re-assignment to another judge.

if not that buhari sees himself as alpha and omega with no respect for other arms of government you would have honoured the invitation long ago.

Are they still on this? I thought events have overtaken it.

But come to think of it, why should appearing before the senate or before the police be subject to litigation.

Our "transmission" IGP should warm up to appear before the Senate.

He is not above the law...
