The debate has been gaining ascendancy in recent times on social media, on the streets, and where ever two or more Nigerians gather to discuss the drama of the absurd playing out in the polity. The word out there by many is that the Senate President is a serial traitor who regularly plots betrayals with the ‘enemy’ to achieve his selfish ambition.

Immediately after the swearing-in of President Muhammadu Buhari , on 29th may 2015, Saraki’s loyalty to the ruling APC became questioned by elements in his Party and Nigerians. This followed his controversial emergence as Senate President in a Mafioso manner behind the back of his fellow APC senators who were billed to hold a meeting with President Buhari as a prelude to the inauguration of the Senate. Since then, the Kwara-born politician has been in the eye of the storm. The National Assembly has also not known peace.

What is the root of the rage? Saraki had led a group of like-minded minority senators to defy his Party’s instruction to emerge as President of the Senate, ahead of Ahmad Lawan who was the Party’s choice. To complicate the matter even the more, another Senator from the rival PDP, Senator Ike Ekweremandu, emerged from the ruins of his Party’s defeat to become the Deputy Senate President.

Public commentators and politcal observers became riled that a Party that has been defeated at the 2015 elections could surreptitiously find its way to the top echelon of the Senate leadership through the connivance of a man with ostensibly an inordinate ambition. An ambition which emerged recently with the defection of Saraki to the opposition- PDP, and his insistence on retaining the position of Senate President despite being in the minority Party.

Following this incidence, Saraki’s character and personality came under intense scrutiny. Intriguing questions constantly came to the minds of most Nigerians, albeit is Saraki not a traitor? Why does he pursue paths that conflict with his close associate? Is this the first incidence of betrayal by Saraki?

A cursory glance into the political history of the Senate President will indicate that it is tainted with incidence of betrayals and mischief. Some of these are highlighted below;
- His greed and lust for power is extremely nauseating. This was a man who betrayed his father who was both his financial and political benefactor by fielding the incumbent governor, Alhaji Abdulfattah Ahmed who was then his Chief of Staff against his younger sister, Gbemi Saraki, the choice of the then Strongman of Kwara politics. A development which may have hastened the death of the father a year after the election;

- His next act of betrayal was on former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Saraki led the pack of several PDP Senators who decamped to the APC in 2014, just as he has done to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018;

- His role in the crash of Societe General Bank which turned many investors into overnight paupers is also an incidence worthy of mention; and

- Finally , current insistence of staying put as the President of the Senate despite not belonging to the party with majority is the biggest betrayal to democracy, and democratic consolidation in Nigeria.

The worst thing to have happened to the Nigerian National Assembly was the emergence of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki as its Chairman and Senate President. My heart bleeds that he is occupying the same position once held by the Great Zik of Africa, Akweke Abyssinia Akweke Nwafor Orizu, Dennis Chukwudebe Osadebay, Joseph Wayas, Dr. Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo, Ken Nnamani who saved this nation from the sinister Olusegun Obasanjo led third term agenda and David Bonaventure Alechenu Mark who blocked the western liberal imperialist same sex marriage agenda.

A traitor will always be a traitor, whatever the time and place. The Senate must do everything possible to put Dr. Saraki where he rightly belongs – the back seat. He is definitely not a fit and proper person to preside over the country’s upper and revered legislative house.

In the words of Steve Maraboli , author and motivational speaker, “The knives of betrayal and drama cut deep and hurt… but they also trim away the nonsense and reveal your true friends.” Bukola Saraki has betrayed many in his journey to political stardom, but his acts have also revealed to Nigerians who he truly is . As the 2019 elections draw closer, well meaning Nigerians are definitely united towards ensuring that Serial Traitors do not get anywhere close to the seat of power again.

An armed robber or sponsor of armed robbers can never be the president of Nigeria.

He will rob Nigeria in two weeks.

He will ground the country. Ask those that had accounts with Societe General Bank

Please Nigerians are creative thinkers. Apt write up and position on this matter. Nigerians need to know the truth and be set free by so doing. I believe in Nigeria and not in wolves in sheep's clothing who discredit others to take their share off the ailing treasure of country. How can the country be ruled by a few who have failed at different opportunities given to them, now they want more power to commit more havoc. We need to wake up and smell the coffee, Nigeria is too old for this nonsense. We cannot have leaders who for their selfish reasons, choose to empower their immediate families at the expense of tax payers money. They travel to other countries and have learnt nothing off their trips usually sponsored by budgeted wealth of the country. What a shame. This is unacceptable and must stop forth with. We know better and can decide who leads this country. I still believe in Nigeria, anyway.

Bukola Saraki is capable of anything. My own is simple, the schools we have attended is not standard for even his son to attend. I know the guy, his opinion about Nigeria is as shallow as his father. In his words, "I am not the saint that will save Nigeria, given the chance, I will do worst". That is the next generation, SMH. Please o, lets stop this deceit in the name of politicking.

The matter of schools is not tailored to just Saraki. It's virtually all of them that send their kids to better education systems than what we have here.
And when did he say those words you quoted?

Bolaji should learn that under any circumstance he will find it difficult in politics because of the dirty jobs he did against PDP and Jonathan. Saraki his leader did not attack Jonathan nor PDP the way he did knwing that politics is a game of interest. He even wrote a misleading and bias book. Forgetting that he came into prominent under Gej administration

Politics is a game no doubt, but Saraki has taken it to another level, he is now gambling with the people's interest, playing politics with matters of national interest is undemocratic, he is a major problem faced by this administration just because of the quest achieve his selfish desires.
