Why An Atiku Presidency Will Be Nigeria's Last Chance For Survival by BiafraIShere(m): 1:03pm On Oct 14, 2018
Before I state the reasons why Atiku is Nigeria's last chance to turn the tide against its current hopeless state and chart a new course, I'll like to go down history lane and explain how we have never been one nation.
The colonial masters arrived our shores and met several diverse nations that had nothing in common but due to their own selfish desire, they merged the Southern and Northern protectorates in 1914. After the 2nd world war, agitation for independence grew rapidly in the colonies and by 1957, Ghana got her independence, and while the South were ready and aggressively seeking for independence, North was not comfortable and rather began to issue threat of Araba (secession) because they felt that the more educated South will dominate them because already. This fear led to the pogrom of 1966 that resulted in the civil war.

The Igbos felt hard done by, and despite the fact that they loved Nigeria (yes, that's a fact) they continued to endure the oppression that followed from 1970 throughout the successive military regimes and then we had democracy in 1999. In 2011, GEJ became the president by Devine grace and for the first time since the end of the Biafran war, he gave a sense of belonging to the Igbos by treating them equally like others and Igbos reciprocated by showing him love and the it became apparent that Igbos were beginning to heal from the wounds of the post civil war oppression, but suddenly, it appeared like there was a gang-up by others in 2015 and GEJ was voted out. I was in the East when the votes were being counted and one could easily feel the palpable gloom and despondency that pervaded everywhere. On the face value, no one could understand why Igbos invested so much emotion in GEJ--an Ijaw man.

Buhari came in, instead of this man to understand the situation and extend a hand of fellowship to all regardless of people voted (which is how democracy is supposed to be anyway), this man began a scorched earth policy and even unguarded rhetoric that were targeted against Igbos in particular, and Christians in general. Buhari's actions and rhetoric, forced equal and opposite reaction from Igbos, and the agitation for Biafra grew to an all time high since 1970!

Naturally, Igbos would love to remain in Nigeria but a Nigeria that is just and equal for all. This is the reason why they've been demanding for restructuring which seemed to have fallen on deaf ears for donkey years now. Suddenly, Atiku appeared on the scene and is saying to all that cares to listen, that he will ensure that Nigeria is restructured if he is elected. With Atiku's stance came massive Igbo support, the type they showered on GEJ to the extent that one could be forgiven if thinks that Atiku is an Igbo man. Funny enough, Atiku is both a Muslim and also a Fulani, so those that always try to blackmail Igbos for hating buhari because he is Fulani and Muslim has their argument torpedoed!!

Now, the agitation for Biafra seemed to have quietened down and the reason is simple, Igbos and other like-minded people are trying to give Nigeria another chance. Igbos are already investing resources, emotions etc in Atiku with the hope that he will restructure Nigeria but if this golden opportunity is lost again, and Buhari is returned again, the hopelessness and despondency that will follow, will be worse than that of GEJ.

It will be in the interest of everyone that wants a prosperous nation devoid of rancour, agitation, diatribes, anger, confusion and frustration to give ATIKU a chance to implement the restructuring that will Hope uplift the destinies of about 200 million people.

The return of Buhari will be disastrous on all and herdsmen terrorist attacks would be relaunched with full force and coupled with Buhari's maladministration, I dare say that no one will escape the coming catastrophic events!!
