Osun PDP to APC : Judiciary Won't Cover up Your Electoral Robbery

Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has chided the All Progressive Congress for questioning the rights of PDP to challenge shady moves in the ongoing election petition process,warning that "the judiciary won't cover up daylight electoral robbery"

In a statement issued on Thursday by the State Chairman of the party,Soji Adagunodo,the PDP described as 'hypocritical' and 'manifested bad faith' the statement of the APC asking the PDP and her candidate ,Ademola Adeleke ,not to question the disbandment of the election petition panel.

"Imagine a thief warning the owner not to shout on rooftop? Robbery must have become so normal to some groups that those involved in it have no shame at all.That is not part of Yoruba tradition.

"Your blantanly and violently rigged an election.The aggrieved is seeking legal redress.You deploy state power to collude to frustrate the wheel of justice.You turn round to dare the victim not to complain.How do we describe APC?-the most rabidly anti-people and anti-democratic party in Nigerian history.

"Osun APC is haunted by her evil conduct of forcefully depriving Osun voters of their voice.Hence,the party and her candidate,Gboyega Oyetola refused to accept court service after we filed our case.We approached the panel to apply for substituted service.Suddenly the panel was dissolved without a new team constituted.Who is afraid of justice ? APC that is applying delay tactics or PDP that filed her case three days to the deadline?

"The PDP and her candidate have utmost respect for the judiciary .That was why our members have remained peaceful while pursuing all legal and constitutional means to retrieve the stolen mandate.We will however not surrender our inalienable rights to fair hearing and justice in compliance with court and tribunal procedural rules,the laws of the federation and the constitution.

"While we accept that the President of the Court of Appeal has the powers to constitute and disband.What our legal team is asking for is compliance with procedural rules.If you disband,you have the sacred duty to reconstitute immediately especially as the petition is time bound.

"Refusal to reconstitute the panel immediately infringes on the rights of PDP and her candidate whose 180 hearings days started counting the day the petition was submitted.We thus have the right to question such suspected exercise of statutory authority.

"Let the APC and the usurper of people's mandate know that no amount of influence peddling,judicial manipulation and deceptive fake news will stop the retrieval of the stolen mandate.The Nigerian judiciary is a protector of citizens' rights and democractic constitutionalism.From the highest cadre to the lowest ,we have faith and confidence that the judiciary will not fail the economically and electorally deprived people of Osun state",the statement concluded.
