It was a miracle at the premises of St. Paul Anglican Cathedral Ezeoke Ehime Mbano, Imo, State on Tuesday, October 16, as a 3-year old Master Theophilus Amajuoyi, was rescued from a 100-feet deep well, 24 hours after.

Narrating the chilling incident to The Leader, at the accident scene, Chief Reginald Nwosu the Executive Chairman Ehime Mbano Local Government Council said that he received a distress call after the incident which happened at about 4pm on Monday 15th October 2018.

According to him, a concerted effort at rescuing the boy from the pit commenced at I am when he successfully mobilized manpower and security of over 50 men.

Men of the Nigeria Police Force from Ehime Mbano Police Division, Area Command and other Vigilante Security Operatives had a hectic time controlling the mammoth crowd struggling to catch a glimpse of the tragedy.

Master Theophilus, an orphan, is a native of Umuopara Nsu but resides with his aunt following the death of his mother three months ago.

Trouble began on the ill feted day when the guardian of the 3-year old took him for prayers at the St. Paul Anglican Cathedral Church Ezeoke Nsu. While the woman was praying, the little boy wandered away from the church and slipped into an abandoned well within the premises of the Cathedral.



He was rescued twenty four hours later at about 4.25pm on Tuesday 16th October 2018.
There was jubilation and spontaneous expression of joy by onlookers, enthusiastic crowd, the rescuers and Bishop David Onuoha of Okigwe South Anglican Communion who gave thanks to God with praises.

Bishop Onuoha in an interview with The Leader expressed gratitude to God for his grace and mercies which endureth forever.

He expressed profound gratitude to Chief Reginald Nwosu, Executive Chairman, Ehime Mbano Council, for his deep concern and efforts which facilitated the rescue of the child. He praised gallant officers of the Nigerian Police, and all those who through prayers and other support helped on the rescue of the little orphan.

The boy was immediately rushed to Madonna Hospital, Ihitte Uboma where he is responding to treatment.

Bishop Onuoha promised to ensure that three other abandoned boreholes within the church were closed to forestall a reoccurrence of the ugly episode.
