On October 1, this year, Nigeria will be 50 years old as an independent nation. Series of activities have been mapped out to celebrate the golden jubilee with pomp and pageantry. On October 1, our humble President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, will, expectedly, address the nation on radio and television networks. He will definitely address us in our borrowed language - english - which we adopted since our colonization. I now begin to wonder. Is the problem of choosing one of our three main languages as our lingua franca unsurmountable? Did we even consider this during the review of the constitution? Can't we choose one through a free and fair referendum? I believe that this could be done and vigorously pursued for implementation within 10 years. What is your contribution? Omokemesi

So, in your humble opinion, what language would soothe this multi-cultured nation. Even the acceptable three is not enough. WAZOBIA as in Yoruba, Hausa and Ibo does not comprise the whole nation. Come to Niger Delta especially Rivers State, we have many tribes with their own languages.

Poster, English is the only preferred language except you want to divide Nigeria.

How would you like to sit thru an hausa language class after work just to understand what your president wants to say when you're already 45years. (No punctuation - Super!)
The answer might provide us with a good beginning.

An indigenous language wont work, the only language that will work is the English which are using presently unless u want to be unrealistic.
