Aiteo Cup Final: Angels Clash For ‘cup Glory’ In Yenagoa by dabblesports(m): 12:35pm On Oct 23, 2018
The Aiteo Cup final for 2017/18 takes place today at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt will face familiar foes Ibom Angels of Uyo in a repeat of last year’s Aiteo cup final.

It is an opportunity for Ibom Angels who seeks revenge to beat Rivers Angels and clinch the sort-after trophy.

A favorable penalty shoot-out saw Rivers Angels winning last year after a 1-1 draw as at full time.

The current cup holders defeated Bayelsa Queens 2-0 in the first semi-final fixture, while Ibom Angels saw off hard-fighting Edo Queens at the Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri.

The women’s final comes 24 hours to the men’s final with Rangers International of Enugu squaring up against Kano Pillars.

The men’s final is tipped to be a mouth-watering encounter as both teams are in pole position to win the Aiteo Cup as they face each other at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

Coached by Whyte Ogbonda, Ibom Angels have earned the respect of the average women football follower, having stretched Rivers Angels in last year’s final in Jos and generally showing consistency on the domestic scene.

No doubt, their ‘star woman’ on Tuesday is defender Glory Ogbonna, who has become an integral part of the Super Falcons squad.
Her presence in the setup is one of the principal reasons Ibom Angels are making their second successive appearance in the Aiteo Cup final.

Her defensive ability and coordinating qualities has helped organize her team’s defense resulting in the side not conceding in this year’s competition, but not forgetting another strong defender Fehintola Mabokanje.

Emem Essien can’t be omitted from the array of stars Ibom Angels possesses, as the mercurial winger is pacy, skillful and drives through defenders with ease
.

Rivers Angels have the experience and quality to wreak havoc by shattering the plans of the opposing team.
Coached by for Super Falcons handler, Edwin Okon, the side have won the Aiteo Cup (previously the Federations’ Cup) than any other club in the land and are poised to defend their title today.

Rivers Angels parades some of the finest players in the league with names such as Chiamaka Nnnadozie, Rofiat Sule and Evelyn Nwabuoku being the team’s assets.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who was outstanding for the Falconets at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in France in August, will be in goal to stop Ibom Angels from lifting the trophy.

With the experience of former Super Falcons captain, Nwabuoku in the side, your guess is as good as mine.
Who will be crowned the champions of the 2017/18 AITEO Cup?
