It happened during my chats with a lady I had feelings of love towards, I have tried so much to convince her in terms of persuasion having decoded some of her love Languages , she has been so reluctant , meanwhile she later acknowledged that she likes me but can't date me but "we should feed the butterfly in the stomach" I know this to be an idiomatic expression but then I'm not sure if it what am really thinking... I don't want to misinterpret her...what could this mean!

Usually when you have butterfly in your stomach, it means you feel funny mostly because of out of love or affection towards someone or nervousness, in this context if you feed the butterflies they won't be flapping their wings and they will be dormant and still. In other words she's saying you should get rid of that emotion towards her. That's my Interpretation

she is simply afraid of falling in love again after her previous disappointments

in a nutshell she is saying she loves u but the thoughts of falling in love again gives her butterflies i.e ( makes her anxious, afraid, uncomfortable..etc) therefore u should feed the butterflies first ( in otherwords make her trust you and give her enough reasons to overcome her fears).
