Let me say u goof by ur assertion that you are an authority in the of political science, even if you are a professor which i strongly doubt. Saying check and balance only work in theory.

The true of the matter is Ambode is powerless, in the sense that he does not control the any security apparatus, if he(Ambode) failed to play along he will be dealt with.
If the context of Authority was use in referring to the president then i can still agree with your assertion to an extent.

At least he would have found a home with the opposition and with the seemingly goodwill he was enjoying with the public prior to the face off with the party. He would have had a 95% chance of winning the election from the other side. The people would have seen him as a victim of a powerful cabal led by Jagaban because he tried it with Fashola but failed because that one was clever and threatened to decamp.
