There is a saying that only a fool does the same thing over and over again and expects a different result.

The year 2018 is about winding up and a lot of people are ending the year better than the way they started it. No doubt, the journey of a thousand mile begins with a step, but I can assure you that if you fail to take the right steps then the journey is bound to be an effort in futility.



It is necessary that we review our journey so far in the year 2018 and prepare ourselves as we approach the year 2019. This is to enable us to take the right steps toward the actualization of our long-term goals and dreams as the case may be.



Investments, to me, is anything you can commit your resources into now and enjoy the benefits in the future.

Types of investments to do in 2019

#1 fixed deposits

Fixed deposit is a financial instrument which provided the investors a higher rate of interest on maturity.

For those whose problem is not knowing what to do with the cash they have, then this is a good investment for you.

You can deposit your funds with any bank of your choice for a period of time and earn some certain amount of interest at the end of the fixed deposit tenure.



#2 Treasury bills

For me, the Treasury bill is one of the safest investment you can invest your money on. It is a way through which a government borrows money from the masses.

It offers no interest at maturity, but treasury bills are sold at a discounted rate. For example, a treasury bill of 10,000 Naira will be sold for 9,000 by the government to the investor and the investor will get a credit value of 10,000 at the maturity of the investment.

In other words, the investor gets his profit at the beginning of the transaction.



#3 Landed property

This is one of the old forms of investment. It is most time preferred by most investors.

One good thing about this form of investment is that you don’t need to do any extra work after purchasing a piece of land or property. The investment appreciates with time.

It is said that investors hardly experience any form of loss in this type of investment.

#4 Invest in your relationship

Over time a lot of people have neglected the relationship that they are into. Investing in your relationship is very necessary considering the fact that you may have to fall back on the relationship during your days of pain.

For the married ones, this is a very important aspect of your life that should be treated with all seriousness. Invest your time in your marriage and on your spouse. Spend some of your money if necessary to show the other person that you care.

Find time to sit down with your spouse and discuss meaningful things together. I can assure you that your 2019 will be exceptionally wonderful.



#5 Invest in yourself

If you must remain relevant in the coming year then you will have no choice other than to take time to look at your life and discover those areas that need urgent attention and attend to them by investing your time and resources in yourself.

Take a critical and a sincere look at your life, point out those grey areas in need of repairs and do yourself a great favor by working on yourself.

Invest in your career, work on your attitude, take care of your health, learn new skills, drop those negative habits, forget about the past and make that move.


2019 is by the corner, plant your feet and stand firm and as you do that I need you to know that nothing is impossible, it can only be difficult.
