Tufiakwa!! My children shall never partake in that feeding programme. Who says I cannot prepare breakfast and lunch for my kids before going to school? All those mass production food will never have taste; moreso, .... Once that food is contaminated in any way, all that partake in it will suffer for it! 2 Likes |

chineloSA: Nope, This is how some of you turn logic southwards. It is the largest in terms of comparative capacity and output. According to him, "at current numbers, the programme costs $1,767,169.48 per day and over $183million has been invested so far in the programme. The programme employs 95,422 cooks, and over 100,000 smallholder farmers linked to the programme, supplying locally sourced ingredients. This translates to 594 cattle, 138,000 chickens, 6.8 million eggs, 83 metric tons of fish that are procured, prepared, and distributed each week. As you can imagine, the quantity of starch and vegetables required for this program on a weekly basis is equally impressive". Other benefits achieved under the programme include a ready market and a sustainable income for our farmers, as well as improved livelihoods for cooks with access to useful and affordable financial products and services that meet their needs. "Financial inclusion is a key enabler to reducing poverty and boosting prosperity". He told the audience that the success of the programme in a short time is due to factors such as unequivocal political will, transparency and accountability, good value for all participants in the value chain, multi-sectoral coordination and strategic partnership with international donors such as Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation and Partnership For Child Development, Imperial College.Simply turn the numbers to percentages and check those percentages with other African countries |

Lilimax: Pls, save us this unnecessary bragging-rights on some low-level platform. You sha want us to know you can prepare food......... The program is talking about children in public schools, most of whom their parents are unable to afford good and nutritious meals. We are talking about these children having access to good food so that they can be in proper frame of mind to learn. We are talking about value-chain (Cooks, Farmers, Poultry, transport, packaging etc) you are taking about "Tufiakwa!"......some of you the just came out of the village, "the village" has not come out of you 1 Like |

Sprumbabafather:Laughs!! you must be living an average or above average income as regard Nigerian scenario. All zones in Nigeria needs this! I have been to all zones I see no difference, there are extremely poor people all over. It is ignorance on the part of my southern brothers to think only the north is poor, they may be right because they have largest population of poor people but I have seen extreme poverty in south-east, south west. I won't mention ijaw only but I will say in the whole south the south-south are the poorest. |

wirinu:What is good one, when the standard of education is nothing to write home about, they should focus on infrastructures and facility that will raise education in government schools, I am a product of bad primary and secondary school and I knew the toll it had on me during university days, so they should tell us how education and teaching in public schools have improved since they assumed office. 1 Like |

chineloSA: Your logic is twisted and did not diligently look at the context within which it was predicted to be the largest in Africa. What your logic has simply done is the lazy-man reasoning (so we are the most populous, hence the largest). I have explained to you that the context looks at the capacities of the countries involved and compared to others. If Ghana with their population demonstrates a capacity that showed more children on the program in relation to enrollment or total number of schools, more cooks compared to total number of potential cooks within a catchment area (same for farmers, poultry farmers, transporters etc), then Ghana with a lower population can be rated to have a larger program. |

Investing heavily on stomach infrastructure. We keep counting wasted years because of myopicness of a few in the corridor of power. When are we going to enjoy free education in all our institutions (from Primary to Tertiary)? All the Trillions so far has not secure our future so it would have being more profitable if the whole resource is channel wholly into free eduction program instead of free feeding program. 1 Like |

Few years ago, UK started giving one meal a day to pupils from reception to primary 2. It's on record that school enrolment has increased. Good for the country! |
