Google Honours Dr Ameyo Adadevoh With A Google Doodle On Her Birthday.

Google is marking the birthday of Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh with a Google Doodle. Dr Adadevoh was born on October 27th, 1956.

A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google's home pages that commemorates holidays, events, achievements, and people. 

Dr Adadevoh is credited with having curbed a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing the patient zero, Patrick Sawyer, in quarantine despite pressures from the Liberian government. She is known for preventing the Nigerian index case from leaving the hospital at the time of diagnosis, thereby playing a key role in curbing the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

On  4 August 2014 it was confirmed that she had tested positive for the virus and she passed away on 19 August 2014.

Dr Adadevoh was also honoured as part of the Lagos At 50 celebrations in 2017.

I parked at the Dangote car park at Falomo just before Easter and I saw British-Nigerian artist, Polly Alakija painting the pillars underneath the bridge. I later found out that it was part of the Lagos At 50 celebration. The Lagos State Government commissioned her to paint 50 women on 50 pillars in Lagos.

Well, one of those paintings is a painting of Dr Adadevoh. It is opposite the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Lasuth.

Even though Nigeria has forgotten her. She laid down her life save this country from Ebola. Continue to rest in peace mam. God be with your family

A day should be set aside in her honour... Things that can be observe that day include; Washing of hands, lectures about health and cleanliness, visitation to public places to educate the masses the important of washing hands and all that. So next time you dropoff Danfo go wash your hands, You go market come back wash your hands, You use public rail in a plaza or hospital wash your hands. Taink YOU.

She saved what could have been modern extinction of people by that selfless act. The healthcare climate was tensed during that period. Little wonder why first consultant medical center has her office locked as a gesture towards that cause!!!
The strike action in government hospitals during that time actually prevented Patrick Sawyer from been taken to a general hospital as it was required from an ECOWAS official..

She died a hero.

A national hero. And she has a strong background too. Her grandfather is Herbert Macaulay and she is a grand niece to Nnmadi Azikwe. I think she should be given a national honour posthumously.
