Adams Oshiomole awarded airport road in Benin for 13 billion and the road is 7km.
No bridges, no bypass, no tunnels, no valley's or hills. Just a straightforward resurfacing and expansion. 13 billion naira.

This is the sad effect of importation. We have imported so much in this nation that local industires have closed down. As the industries have closed, joblessness has risen. As joblesness has arisen, touts and miscreants roam about the place upsetting goverment work. They must eat. And you must pay for their food from the funds given to you by government to do any small job, roads inclusive.
If people had jobs, inside industry and we were Content with our "Made in Nigeria" brand, nobody will disturb the process of road construction. And the cost will come down significantly.

GoodofNaija:
This is one of Nigeria's major problems.

This is why most of our projects are never completed. What we have are inflated contracts.

For example:

1. The governor and co-politicians would have collected half or more of the contract sum for just awarding the contract.

2. Appointments of non professionals to head ministries or agencies. By giving the ministry of works, power& housing to just one person, you will have problems of inflated contracts. Worse still the minister is not a professional in those core engineering ministries. In a normal country, the ministry of works & housing should be headed by civil engineers or architects. Ministry of power should be headed by electrical engineer.

It's not just politicians and ministries. An average Nigerian is corrupt and crooked. A friend of mine once got a landscaping contract with a firm. Her total cost for their grounds was 900,000. But she marked it up to 3 million because it's a big firm. Guess what? when she submitted the invoice the account officer told her to write 6million.
When the money was transferred to her company account, half of it was given to the accounts officer.
This is a true story and that's Nigeria for you. Everyone wants to be rich overnight.

There are Gandujes in every government offices, ministries, and agencies. In fact the President down to the least person in government are all Gandujes. That's why the roads will continue to cost more at the lowest quality imaginable.

60% of the money will be shared before it gets to the final hand that will handle the project.
Old corrupt fools since nobody is talking it has been a smooth business as usual .

You can say that again, vr smooth business for them, that is why they are ready to doing anything to get into the seat of power..

I have read somewhere in which a guy who is the head of a contracting company said he was asked to inflate a road project that meant to be less than a Billion Naira to Over two point something billion in their propose voucher and he has no option than to play wit dem because his company can not affort to loss the contract.

What a hell we are in... The same old fools now coagulating and be forming Atikulooters Obituary, even the current govt is worst.

That range you gave is too wide and unrealistic. Hence the report lack credibility

But he didn’t just give those figures, you can see how he went on to validate those figures with his calculations and exchange rates so what exactly is difficult for you to deduce?

Since the contracts ain't awarded for the sake of the people but for the interest of their own, hence it becomes necessary to inflate it.
I believe one day God will deliver us if we start thinking right.

The case of Nigeria is quite peculiar in the sense that you need to pay homage to both the living and the dead before you embark on any contract project.
The portion meant for the dead is also an exclusive for some living buffons who are grossly insatiable

It's very clear the ministries inflate project price

Everybody is in on the crime, not just the ministries.

The governor, the state agencies, the executive council, the legislative oversight committee, the contractor, the tender board, the LCDA people, the kabiyesi, emir or igwe, the youth association, the contractor, the contractor's staff, the supplier...every single sonobish remotely involved in the contract!!

I have never seen a nation so willingly and eagerly gang raped by all of her people as Nigeria have been and yet still standing albeit faintly.
