HERE THEY COME AGAIN…….

Notable men like Chief Gani Fawehinmi (sam, san) and Rev. Chris Okotie chorused day and night during the last presidential election campaign in 2003. Warning us about Obasanjo and his cohorts anti-masses agenda, which we were not completely ignorant of based on their (Obasanjo and co.) antecedents over the past years. But blinded by baseless sentiments and the immediate urge to quench our hunger with their "devilish bread" (bribes in cash and kind), we failed to act by kicking these oppressors out of office, we foolishly played into the hands of these wicked politicians and INEC ("Independent" National Electoral Commission).

Now, we are reaping the fruits. These continuous fuel shortage and price hike, retrenchment, unemployment, abject poverty, bad roads,
epileptic energy sector, plane crashes etc. are the bitter fruits we have to chew for failing to vote or voting wisely. If you listen to the president's explanations (whenever he feels like) you would weep for Nigeria and Nigerians. In a nutshell we are being punished for their (government) gross inefficiency and unpardonable corruption. Well, by God's grace we would survive this tenure (expires May 29, 2007) again, hoping that our experience would be our best teacher. But my advice to them is that they should not push their luck too far, a word is enough for the wise.

Now, to the masses of this country, wake up from your slumber, shine your eyes! Some characters are warming up for 2007, they would come with huge promises and "handouts". We should be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. Let's not deceive ourselves, we know these people, they are Nigerians, they live in this country. We know those that are capable of turning the situation of the country around for the better, let's give them the necessary supports. But the masquerades and pretenders among them should be shunned and chased out. It is better to take a stand now and do away with sentiments, tribal or otherwise, than to cry "had we known" later.

In addition to excising our franchise, we should constitute a prayer group, which should be code named NAFDAC (New Action For Democracy And Constitutionality). Religious affiliation notwithstanding, our prayer would be for God to get rid of all these fake, adulterated and expired politicians from our political land space, to pave way for genuine and effective politicians that are devoid of selfish and parochial interests to handle the mantle of leadership. Until then corruption and it's attendant symptoms (poverty, unemployment, incessant fuel shortage and price hike, suffering in the midst of plenty and other vices) would persist without remedy.
May God help us!
