The history written by op is a total lie. They removed every murderous act hed committed and how he was removed from the war because hed caused the Nigerian army thousand of men and equipment while trying to enter onitsha and was decimated by biafra batteries.. The asaba massacre etc. His role on the most bloody coup ever in Nigeria..... his death will continue to resound as a lesson to murderers. They riddled him with bullets like a target dummy. Death well deserved.

Mass murderer.
Incompetent commander, the only one relieved of his command mid-operations.
Serial coup plotter, who came to prominence via bloodshed and ended going the same way.Served his just desserts by Karma.
Destroyer of the very competent civil service the colonialists bequeathed to us.
Founder of the straightjacket 'federalism' we now find ourselves difficult to change.
Abolisher of the resource control policy and principles he met on ground, and the very robust system of local government administration we used to have, only to replace them with the nonsense we have now.
Betrayer of brother officers, who he murdered in their sleep.
May he rot in hell.

So, he was less than 40 years when he was the head of state? And these 70plus old cargos wont allow younger ones to rule the country again. VOTE SOWORE FOR PRESIDENT.

In August 1967, three months into the Nigerian Civil War, Biafran troops invaded the Midwest Region, to the west of the River Niger. They spread west, taking Benin City and reaching as far as Ore , where they were pushed back by the Nigerian Second Division, under the command of Col. Murtala Muhammed .
The Federal troops gained the upper hand, and forced the Biafrans back to the Niger, where they crossed the bridge back into the Biafran city of Onitsha , which lies directly across from Asaba. The Biafrans blew up the eastern spans of the bridge, so that the Federal troops were

But sir according to wiki he was not the one that ordered the open fire. At a junction, men and teenage boys were separated from women and young children, and gathered in an open square at Ogbe-Osowa village. Federal troops revealed machine guns, and orders were given, reportedly by Second-in-Command, Maj. Ibrahim Taiwo , to open fire. It is estimated that more than 700 men and boys were killed, some as young as 12 years old, in addition to many more killed in the preceding days.

Murtala Mohammed was a terrorist, war criminal, accomplished coup plotter, military dictator and a killer

That anyone actually praise this monster of a man despite all the people he killed is a shame

That such a terrorist could be honoured on the N20 is a national shame

People should be praising Dimka for ending that monster

Here are crimes of the terrorist called Murtala Mohammed:

(1) He led the counter-coup of 1966 where he killed over 300 Officers from the East based on ethnic sentiments

(2) Mutalas Counter coup served as the green light for pogroms in the North that cost over 50,000 lives

(3) As commander of the 2nd Division, Murtala ordered the summary execution of all POW's. This is a war crime.

(4) Murtala supervised the killing of over 1000 people in the city of Asaba.

Murtala Mohammed was a terrible human being, he was directly responsible for the deaths of at least 100,000 people

And deservedly so. He ordered the worst genocide in Nigerian history AND, by accounts of foreign powers in the know, he was quite corrupt!

A demented soul, probably infested and possessed with a Lucifer spirit of witchcraft and sucking of innocent blood. This guy was worse than Dracula the vampire. He epitomized tyranny and despotism and had propensity unparalleled display of mental retardation, leading to his only means for engagement being violence and loads of it even against innocent and defenseless people. The butcher of Asaba and a common war criminal with avaricious moral corruption. There is no difference between this beast and animals in the bush. Animals in the bush at least display the honor of killing only when hungry, this guy killed for fun. He was indeed worse than wild beasts. All brawn and no brain.

There is no way this one will be resting in peace. It has to be somewhere worse than hell in ignominy and agony for ever.

so the first in command stood by idly and watched his second in command order his troops to kill defenceless civillians? Does that make any sense to you
