You didn't understand that part. Yes, Christ has paid for our sins, this means sin cannot prevent us from eternity with him.

But when we sin here on Earth, our loving father can decide to punish us for it here on Earth. That is His way of correcting those He loves. If you steal, you might get caught and sent to jail. Stealing is a sin, going to jail for it is facing the punishment for the sin. But whether you face it or not, such sin cannot make you lose your salvation.

Do you get it now?

if i decide to offset your debt and same person you used to owe comes back requesting for the debt i have paid for you. How does that sound?
Christ redeemed us from the Law and the curse ( punishment) of that same law. it would not have been complete good news if Christ allows us to face punishment for a sin he has died for. Do you fully understand and probably have meditated on the word, IT IS FINISHED?

i thank God for the spread of His grace message rapidly going round but i hope you study further on this we have talked about.

What is a Good News? Let me give you two scenario.

A man tells you he wants to give you a skyscraper in Eko Atlantic City. He says all you have to do is accept the keys from him and he will take you to where the finished skyscraper is. Isn't that Good news?

A man says he wants to give you a skyscraper in Eko Atlantic City. But he says you will have to do the WORK of building it from foundation to the last floor all by yourself without help. That is you will mix the cement, mould the blocks, bend the irons and carry out all the manual labour yourself.

Which of the two scenario sounds like Good News?

You see, Good news never has any blemish or a tiny fraction of sadness. It is purely good news that gladdens the heart.

Today, preachers lie about what salvation truly is. They tell you that Jesus died for your sins and that you have to believe in Jesus to prevent you from going to hell fire. They are right in that regard, but they throw in a sad news into the good news thereby corrupting it.

They tell you that once you accept Jesus, all your previous sins are forgiven. But henceforth, every sin you commit will be upon you and can prevent you from having eternal life thereby subjecting you to damnation in hell fire. They basically say when you accept Jesus Christ, you get salvation and eternal life. But when you commit a little sin, you lose the eternal life and your salvation. So in order to avoid that, you have to live a holy and righteous life. This is false and unscriptural.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The above verse doesn't say once you sin, the everlasting life you have as a result of belief in Jesus will be lost. It simply says belief in Jesus has given you everlasting life, no one can make you lose it, not even yourself. If you can lose the eternal life, which is life never ending, then it wasn't eternal after all.

These false preachers are saying that you have to live a righteous life to earn salvation, whereas salvation is a free gift God gave into us. We did nothing to deserve it. It is by Grace.

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

If salvation is by works, then many people will boast when they get to heaven. They will say things like "I never sinned, I paid my tithes, I gave to the poor, I didn't fornicate etc, that's why God allowed me into heaven". Jesus spoke of such people.

Mathew 7:21

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

You see, the people in verse 22 we're trusting in their works to save them. That's why they reeled out all the WORKS they've done with the hope that it is what will grant them eternal life. They were basically depending on themselves.

They will be two kinds of Christians on judgment day. The one who will say the reason why he deserves eternal life is because he was a good Christian who did all sorts of Works, and the one who will say the only reason he deserves eternal life is because he believed in Jesus who died to pay for it.

The first set of people are like those in verse 22. Jesus will kick them out because they never acknowledged him in their statement. They gave no regard to his work on the cross. It shows they were never saved. That's why Jesus told them in verse 23 "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity". They did all the good works but still they never got eternal life because they didn't put their hope in Jesus. They were simply boasting forgetting that we owe it all to Jesus.

Imaging you want your friend to use his vehicle to take you to Badagry and he says you will have to fuel it, which you did. Won't you feel somehow when you get to your destination and he starts telling people that you won't have made it there if not for his vehicle? I believe you will quickly remind him that you paid for the fuel that powered his vehicle. The both of you will have to share the glory because you both worked.

Concerning eternity, there's nothing you did. You depending on works means you want to share in God's glory. That's why your kind will boast on judgement day that you did so so and so. Christ did it all on the cross. All we have to do now is have faith in his finished work on the cross which makes us righteous and forever deserving of eternal life.

If you are still trusting in your works to save you from damnation, then it means you are rejecting what Jesus did on the cross. He paid for our eternity, but you feel you don't need his effort, you want to pay it yourself. Your effort can never be enough. It will only earn you damnation. This is all because you think sin is what sends people to hell.

Do you know that sin is not what sends people to hell? What sends people to hell is rejection of or lack of believe in Jesus Christ.

John 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

If you believe in Jesus, you already have everlasting life

John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Once you believe in Jesus Christ, you have eternal life and nothing can make you lose it, not even yourself. Those who trust on their works don't believe such, that's why they are trusting in themselves for salvation. That's why they are not saved and not a sheep of Jesus.

John 10:26

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30 I and my Father are one.

Verse 28 says Jesus gives his sheep eternal life and they shall never perish. He even said no one can pluck them out of his father's hand. This means you can't lose your salvation. Nothing you do will ever make you lose your salvation. You are totally safe in God's hands. Today's preachers have call Jesus a liar when they say you can lose your salvation. No one can pluck you out Jesus hand.

But wait, what if you sin? You will get punished here on Earth, but that sin, no matter how terrible it is, can never make you lose your eternal life.

What Jesus did on the cross is blood ritual, Sane humans aren't interested in such.

As humans there's no way of avoiding the fact that our actions reflect our thoughts, what we believe. So it goes without saying that one who is saved by believing in Jesus Christ will act in accordance with his belief.

Sorry Chioma, you got it all wrong.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But God gave us his son so that we will be made righteous.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

As long as you are still in the flesh, you will sin. But your spirit is saved. Your flesh will be destroyed but eternity is for your spirit. By the way, you have backed your stance with no Bible verse. You only quoted Philippians 2:12

Philippians 2:12
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

You quoted the verse without proper understanding of what it's saying. You probably think it is saying that you should work to save yourself. Then what's the need for Jesus dieing on the cross?

The verse is simply saying that we should show out that which God put inside of us. God has saved us already, He now wants us to show fruits of our salvation. Those fruits are what others will see that will make them change and believe in Jesus as well.

Let me give you one example. When you go to the gym, what do you say you are doing? You say you are working out. You already have hips and curves which are what God deposited in you. But to make them more pronounced, you go to the gym to work them out. When your friends see your new look, they marvel and ask how you did it. That's when you tell them about working out at the gym. They get motivated to be like you, so they go to the gym too.

Same thing with a very wicked man whom everyone avoids because he is toxic. All of a sudden, he becomes kind and loving to a very strong degree. Don't you think people will wonder about the sudden change? He will tell them Jesus changed him and out a good heart in him, that is why he is showing kindness unlike before. This can make many to draw near to Christ.

Now the passage in Philippians which you quoted, had it been you read the next verse, you would have understood better. The next verse will make you understand what I've been saying since.

Philippians 2:13
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

God worked salvation in you and wants you to do his good pleasure. That's why he said you should work out that salvation so that people will through that get saved as well.

You also asked if we should continue in sin so that grace may abound. Yes, Grace abounds even more when there is sin.

Romans 5:20
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

What are those fruits of salvation that we are to exhibit?

My bro i wanted to correct you of this part but i decided to wait.... Look my bro, our Abba Father doesn't punish us his children cos all our sins has been punished on Christ at the cross. If a person steals and he gets caught and sent to jail, it's not God punishing him. It is him facing the consequences of his sin. Sin has consequences in this world cos it's a natural law here. But it's not God punishing the person, it's the person facing the consequences of his sin.

We live in a fallen world, this is not how God created this world to be. So anyone can get punished for sin here if they're caught, be it robbery, stealing, adultery etc cos that's the law in this world. It's not God punishing the person. The person is facing the consequences of his sin.

God can also correct his children in this world if they are going astray but we don't call it punishment. We call it loving chastisement as a loving father corrects a child he loves. God bless you my brother, i am proud of what you are doing here for Christ Jesus.

When you are saved, you receive the Holy Spirit. And below are His fruit.

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Jiggaz, Albhagdadi, Doughziay, u guys re the bomb!
I m always on the look out for those hu bliv n preach the true, pure, undiluted gospel of Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ thru faith alone. I m happy to high heavens when I find one.
The dearth of preachers hu understand God's grace /plan of salvation is very depressing to me. All our 'celebrated' preachers don't even understand the very basic foundation of our faith - GRACE!
U re not a christian if u aren't saved n if u don't understand God's grace thru whc He saves us, I don't know how u became (or claim to be) a christian.
People need to hear the true gospel. The sad thing is, wen this pure n simple message of the gospel is presented to them, they would rather hold on to their man-made plan of saving themselves by working to complement God's grace. It breaks my heart!
Brothers, thank you for spreading the true gospel. God will surely bless you..

But your last statement seems to be somehow..
How can you say God will punish a believer that sin on earth, then why did Jesus died ? Is it for us to suffer for our sins on earth and have eternal life latter in heaven ...
Please you can do well to backup your last statement with Bible references..
Thanks

Perhaps I used a harsh word "punish". What I some meant is that God will chastise his child for wrongdoings. It's just like when your father beats you for a wrong thing you did. He beat you because he loves you and because he doesn't want you to continue doing that thing which can cause you harm. That is love from your father.

This post must certainly be from a false teacher, an antichrist. Seems the antichrist has forgotten where Christ himself says you must be holy for yoyr heavenly father is holy and nothing unclean shall enter heaven. He also advises that you cut off many parts of your body if they are what will make you not to go to heaven. In other words you must do everything possible to go to heaven. OP, in Christ there is commandments to follow, lovibg God abd loving your fellow human beings. Loving God means obeying his words and loving your fellow human beings means loving everybody as Christ loves us. For every law, even human laws, there is always punishments for disobedience. My Christ, loving Christ, was never, can never be an advocate of a sinful way of life.

Let me tell you about the story of Cornelius in the Bible. He was a devout man who feared God and did many good things, yet he wasn't saved. God had to send Peter to go and save him which became evident after he received the Holy Spirit. Had it been Cornelius died before Peter showed up, he would have ended up in hell fire. Read the story in Acts chapter 10.

Same thing with Muslims, Jews and others. If you like do all the good in this world, as long as you haven't bee. saved by Jesus, you are going to hell because salvation is not of works by by grace through faith in Jesus.

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

It's the same thing as saying Bill Gates will make heaven because of his charitable deeds. If you believe that, then it means he can buy his way into heaven. But Jesus Christ said it will be difficult for a rich man to make heaven.

If you don't believe in Jesus in the appropriate way, then you are doomed.

So I believe in Jesus Christ and I want for say armed robbery and I kill some people and I was later killed.. Am I still a heave candidate? Just want to know hat ur idea is? Cos it seems like anybody read and interpret their thoughts or opinions

You are a candidate of heaven because you believed in Jesus Christ as your saviour who died for your sins.

Your case is no different from that thief on the cross who begged Jesus to remember him when he gets to his kingdom. He was a thief like you who was getting killed for his sins. While he believed in Jesus, the other thief rejected and even mocked Jesus. He got saved while the other got condemned.

Do you think it is in your best interest to become an armed robber after accepting Jesus? Ask those in maximum prison what they are facing. Most of them don't even know what an Android phone is; they don't know what Instagram and Facebook are. They are regretting their actions. Don't you think the life of an armed robber will make you end up like them? Is that what you want? If you get killed as an armed robber who believed in Jesus, you will make heaven. If you get sentenced to prison, you will still make heaven. afterwards, but you will regret a lot in prison. where you won't have freedom. That is why as Christians, we should avoid sin.

Also for the records and anyone who may likely come across this post. Crucifixion was meant to inflict the maximum amount of shame and torture upon the victim. Roman crucifixions were carried out in public so that all who saw the horror would be deterred from crossing the Roman government . Crucifixion was so horrible that it was reserved for only the worst offenders.
Crucifixion was finally outlawed by the

when I mean a cross, I mean two sticks crossing each other.

Jesus was not crucified on a cross rather on a standing pole of wood.
None of the Gospels in the New Testament mentions whether Jesus was nailed or tied to the cross.

For the first eight centuries of the evolution of Christianity, Christian art represented a lamb, and not a man, as suffering on the cross for the salvation of the world.
Neither the paintings in the Catacombs nor the sculptures on Christian tombs pictured a human figure on the cross. Everywhere a lamb was shown as the Christian symbol -- a lamb carrying a cross, a lamb at the foot of a cross, a lamb on a cross.
Some figures showed the lamb with a human head, shoulders and arms, holding a cross in his hands -- the lamb of God in process of assuming the human form -- the crucifixion myth becoming realistic.
At the close of the eighth century, Pope Hadrian I, confirming the decree of the sixth Synod of Constantinople, commanded that thereafter the figure of a man should take the place of a lamb on the cross

It took Christianity eight hundred years to develop the symbol of its suffering Savior. For eight hundred years, the Christ on the cross was a lamb. But if Jesus was actually crucified, why was his place on the cross so long usurped by a lamb? In the light of history and reason, and in view of a lamb on the cross, why should we believe in the Crucifixion?

Crucifixion was not invented by the Romans, but they used it a lot. It was thought of as the most horrible, painful, tortuous, and humiliating form of execution possible. when I mean a cross, I mean two sticks crossing each other.

Jesus was not crucified on a cross rather on a standing pole of wood.
None of the Gospels in the New Testament mentions whether Jesus was nailed or tied to the cross.
