Nigeria has so many antecedents and precolonial realms. Before the modern era, Nigeria was divided into several ethnic groups, such as Yoruba, Nri (Igbo), Benin, Hausa, and Nupe. But the one that catches my attention is the Kingdom of Nri (also known as Igbo). The political Nri kingdom existed from 948 to 1911, when British troops forced them to end their political power. But cultures still exist in the country of Nigeria. Nri had many cultures and great leaders. The Nri Kingdom was located in the West Africa region; now it is the region of Nigeria.

The formation of the Nri Kingdom dates back to the ninth century by the founder of Nri and Igbo; people became the center of Igbo cultures. After the death of the founder, at the end of the Eri period, the first king of the Nri period, ikfikuánim, began his reign in 1043. The capital, Nri, was Igbo-Ukwu. His official language was Igbo. Nri’s main religion was Odinani. Odinani aims to understand his world (called “Uwa”) and has gods (called “Chukwu”). He had a regime of elective monarchy. Nri had Manillas as money. The handles are bronze, copper or sometimes gold bracelets.

The kingdom of Nri was a theocratic state. The Eze Nri was a rule endowed with mystical powers. Eze Nri had no military power, so, in common sense, Eze Nri was like a leader instead of a king. By changing position, Eze Nri was chosen by a group of people who observed the man with supernatural power. Eze Nri was quoted as a divine ruler. The spiritual and political power of Nri was called Ikenga. The first Eze Nri (the founder in the Eri period) was Eze Eri.
