When it comes to job hunting, Lagos is the perfect place to go. And whenever you are accepting a job offer in this city, you must look beyond the salary.

As a matter of fact, don’t fall victim to the figures in the appointment letter. Rather be rational and look beyond the figures.

Whether you are an experienced professional looking for greener pasture or a fresh graduate looking for a job, there are certain things you must consider before accepting a job offer in Lagos.

A job offer goes beyond the figures of the salary, the beauty of the work environment etc. So, in this article, we have come up with certain things to consider before accepting a job offer in Lagos.

5 Things To Consider Before Accepting A Job Offer In Lagos

#1. Healthcare Package

One of the things to consider before accepting a job offer in Lagos is the healthcare package. Remember, health is wealth and any organization that doesn’t provide any healthcare package for you is not worthy of your skill.

Irrespective of the salary figures a company is offering, I still believe they are inhuman if they aren’t considering your health. So, it is advisable to remain in your current role where the salary is not that big but the healthcare package is encouraging.

#2. Consistency Of Payment

The consistency of payment is something you should look into before accepting a job offer. Ask employees around if possible, some of them may be able to hint you.

Trust me, it is better you receive a 50k salary consistently every month than working in a place where you are paid 200k that doesn’t come as at when due.

In fact, some companies in Lagos even owe 3 months salary. Don’t make the mistake of working in companies like these, you will end up living in debt.

#3. Profit Sharing Options

Generally, some organizations are very appreciative to their employees. And they will always share part of their profits with their workforce.

Organizations like these are the best places to work. Once you get an employment offer from these organizations, don’t think it twice before accepting it.

#4. Location

Location is one of the most important things to consider before accepting a job offer in Lagos. When an Organization offers a salary, compare it in terms of expenses with your current salary and location.

For instance, if you live in Egbeda it is better to work in a company in Ikeja paying you 75k than working in another company in Victoria Island paying you 125k. Considering the cost of transportation and stress.

#5. Payment of Leave Allowance and 13th Month Salary

Some companies may offer 5 digit salary but they pay Leave allowance and 13th-month salary in 6 digits. Companies like these have great plans for employees, you should accept the offer even if it is a 5 figure salary.

After all, the leave allowance and 13th-month salary are in 6 digits. You can easily use these allowance to pay your house rent and offset other expenses.

Profit sharing options? I challenge you to mention one company, preferably the one you work for that shares profit with employees or gives profit bonus to employees who are not directors, deputy directors or branch managers. I know banks give these people profit bonus because I work as a contractor to a bank in Nigeria.
You might even be jobless for all we care or you work in a firm own by a relative, come here spewing trash.
Can can a firm share profit with someone that's probably in almost the lowest hierarchy in the organization,as the case is for fresh graduate employees.

THE TITLE WOULD HAVE BETTER BEEN " 5 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE ACCEPTING A JOB IN LAGOS, WHEN YOU ALREADY HAVE AN EXISTING JOB" I WAS WATCHING A YOUTUBE VIDEO WHEN A GOOD SAMARITAN WOMAN BOUGHT A WHEEL CHAIR TO A BEGGAR, Í THINK THE LOCATION OF THAT VIDEO SHOULD BE AROUND EKO HOTEL, THE WOMAN ASKED THE BEGGAR HOW MUCH HE MAKES IN A DAY AND THE BEGGAR SAID N3,000, THE WOMAN EXCLAIMED N3,000?..... IMAGINE THAT'S TOO POOR, WHEN YOU MULTIPLE THAT BY 1 MONTH, THAT IS N3000*30 THAT WILL BE ABOUT N90K, THAT'S WHAT THE BEGGAR MAKES IN A MONTH, WHILE THERE ARE NUMEROUS GRADUATES OUT THERE WHO EARN AS LITTLE AS N40K PER MONTH. NA JOBLESS MAN WEN GET CHOICE NA HIM GO DE FIND JOB WITH A BETTER OPTION OR CONDITION BEFORE HE GO CHOOSE FROM. WEN HUNGER DON FINISH YOU, YOU GO KNOW SAY KAKKI NO BE LEADER, NA MATERIAL.
