Who Were The Original Secessionists That Led To Nigerian Civil War? by redsun(m): 9:34pm On Jul 25, 2010
Before the 1966 coup, seventy percent of commissioned officers in nigerian army were igbos as a result of education and  in accordance with the strict protocols of nigerian military then based on excellence and fairness but during the coup that ultimately led to  the war, almost all the commissioned igbo officers in military were eliminated by northern officers led mutineers with the exception of those that were lucky to be in the eastern garrison that Ojukwu was in charge of.This then the brings some questions in mind, who were the real secessionists that led to the nigerian civil war and what was the real purpose of 1966 coup ?Was it a genocidal revenge on the igbos or a bid for secession by northerners who were already agitating at the same period to leave nigeria and have their own separate entity?

Some of those murderers like babagida, danjuma, gowon and co that committed the crime against humanity that we choose to sweep under the carpet are still major players in nigerian politics today.

Today nigeria is built on the foundation of injustices and blood sucking, that is why it can go nowhere. The situation is more complex than palestinian case fundamentally but because we are people that tend to overlook the past for the future,we think it is something we can push aside and move on.

Nigeria situation today can be likened to a situation where the nazi germany had won the war and continue with their atrocities as a system without any retributions whatsoever.

The July 66 coup was a revenge attack by northern officers who had been manipulated by the british into beleiving that the January coup was an igbo coup. The January 66 coup was actually a nationalist revolution aimed at toppling british appointed puppets. The british knew that the only way they could crush a nationalist movement in nigeria was to stoke the flames of tribalism by pitting the igbos against the northerners and making the igbos scapegoats that is how they succeeded in crushing the nationalist revolutionary movement which had been planned by Ifeajuna, Nzeogwu and various other officers.

The likes of Babangida, Murtala Mohammed, Obasanjo, Danjuma et al were rewarded for returning nigeria back to the british and this is why they have remained rich and powerful to date.

True talk man. After the july massacre, the northerners were already evacuating lagos and the rest of the west enmass to form their own northern country but for the british intervention that promised them(gowon and co) the everlasting leadership of one fake nigeria and the failure of ogundipe to act in accordance with his plan with ojukwu to declare himself the commander in chief of federal republic of remaining nigeria.

It is such a wobbly platform that we are laying our foundation and we expect it to hold.

Gbam!

Whenever I hear that murderous Murtala Mohammed's name. It makes my blood boil. I am so glad he was humuliated by our brave Biafran soldiers.

Even though my father was not involved in that military confrontation at Abagana since he was defending Onitsha at the time. He will still tell me how his comrades sent that murderous man reeling!

Abagana the greatest battle during the whole war besides the siege of Onitsha.

Ultimately the rebellious and illegitimate faction of the nigerian civil were what is now known as nigerian military and nigerian government.Ojukwu and those on his side were defending their constitutional rights as suppose nigerians and oppressed human beings
