Nonsense.
1) states like bayelsa that receive over 800% more grant than most populous kano have NOTHING to of development, why? The leaders are stealing the money
2)enormous corruption and looting
3)excessive tribalism and nepotism
4)uneven development across the country
5)poor leadership in each state
6)long period of time before states get their acts together

9)it takes decades to build an economy which means all the states must go back to the 19th century
10) there will be war and chaos
11) with the current living hardship no state can bear economic building
12) states controlling their resources means enormous theft, all the thieves in each state will have access to state treasury and they'll surely empty

So in order words, the North should continue milking out of the rest because the governors of the state are too lazy to utilize the natural resources of North. You are aware the North has both agriculture and minerals export to fall back in. It does not have to be oil alone. Why should the entire country stay stranded just to compensate on the incompetent of North. Why? Haven't we suffered enough because of you people?

Why must there be uniform development in a country?

Where on earth have you seen a country with uniform development all over the country?

I no blame you, northern soldiers proliferated myriad states in northern region through which north siphons oil revenues to the north.
What has north to develop uniformly with the south of Nigeria with oil and close to the sea?

You come here to talk bunkum of uniform development.

Imagine Lagos, with its sentiments against Igbos, having the power to make and amend sequestration laws, segregation laws, property ownership laws, and worst of all...indigeneship laws.

Imagine the chaos.

How can we ever get it right in this country the majority of the masses cannot correctly figure out what's the actual problem we face?

Some leaders have now come and distract us with restructuring mantra. Just to shift focus from their horrible performance over the years. Any Governor who doesn't perform now blame it on restructuring.

How does restructuring stop public office holders and administrators from abusing their office?

How does restructuring restructure the brains and hearts of our leaders?

Is it not still Nigerians that'll operate within the same federalism?

So magically, all our problems will automatically vanish just because we practice true federalism?

How does restructuring holds governors accountable they performed poorly? how does it magically make them perform better?

Most of all, we all know that the average Nigerian is habitually selfish - which to me, is the root of all our problems - so, how for God sake, does restructuring transform selfish men into selfless men? How?

Restructuring has to do with the corporate management term for the act of reorganizing the legal, ownership, operational, or other structures of a company for the purpose of making it more profitable, or better organized for its present needs.

With the recent ongoing cry for the restructuring of Nigeria, here are top ten things that would happen if Nigeria is restructured.

1. No More Federal Allocation: The normal trend of states waiting to receive allocation/ "oil money" from the federal treasury will become a thing of the past.

2. States Will Control Their Resources: The various states in Nigeria, will be in full control of their resources. Take for instance, Enugu; the coal producing state will be in full control of how coal is mined, transported and exported without the interference of the federal government. The federal government will play it's role by ensuring the coal mining follows due procedure.

3. Less Power in Abuja: Currently, Nigeria runs a very a expensive government because of the centralized power in Abuja. If Nigeria is restructured, power no longer rests solely in Abuja, but is shared equally among states. This implies that states can have their own separate laws guiding them.

4. State Policing Will be Made Possible: Imagine a Nigeria with a police force bearing the name "KAPD" standing as Kano State Police Department. The various states in Nigeria will be able to be in full control of their military; with Abuja overseeing them all.

5. Government Workers will be more serious: Restructuring this country, is sure to make civil servants serious in carrying out their responsibilities as there would be competition among states to have the best output.

6. Unemployment Reduction: Restructuring Nigeria will reduce the rate of unemployment; because the 36 states with mineral resources will begin to explore and harness their resources leading to a new era of utilization of these human and mineral resources.

7. Increase in Healthy Competition: Nigerian states without good healthcare, schools and public infrastructure will begin to work hard to provide such, so that they can be seen as good among their counterparts. For instance, if a state is not doing well in providing quality education; and sees people leaving the state for other states that state can decide to work hard to improve the education infrastructure to see that it competes with states with the best education.

8. Less dependence on Oil: Due to the fact, that states now control their resources, crude oil will no longer be the main source of revenue for the country; leading to the increase in diversity in revenue generation. Some states could go into manufacturing, some into real large scale Textile making, some into full time agriculture.

9. General Development: The country will generally develop. Each state will be responsible for the improving a key sector of the economy leading to massive development.

10. Nigerian crude oil could lose value: With the dwindling price of oil, and the growing concern about carbon poisoning caused by crude oil, the world is moving toward a green environment. Hence, revenue generated by oil in the south south of Nigeria will make little or no sense in the international markets in the nearest future. By 2020, many countries in Europe will begin the use of electric vehicles.

All these will amount to total rubbish with the low ebb of discipline in our society. We must purge ourselves of impunity, inefficiency and the high tendency for abuse of public trust which is endemic in our society.

It is the people that make a system work.

The wealthiest countries of the world have no crude oil.

Only thing that revolves in your mind is that your state can't survive without crude oil from the Nigerdelta. Fallacy.

All you stated above are exactly why states must depend on what they have in their grounds and immediate environment to begin to develop their states and their people, not depend on resources that come from other states for development, because they told you we all have a country, Nigeria.

War??
Continuing the present system where revenues are collected by Abuja and shared to indolent people who do not want to think and work, but pray from morning till night, that's a recipe for another way in Nigeria.

If the war comes, Oyibo can't help you this time, because Oyibo has seen the donkey years of unjust system visited by Nigeria upon the oil producing areas.

Oyibo had seen how oil revenues are used for donkey years in building modern infrastructures in northern Nigeria which adds little or nothing to Nigeria's coffers, while the area in the south where oil revenues come from is starved by your almighty Abuja federal central government.

Think how you can use your brain to create wealth and help to develop your state, not depend on oil revenues.

2. We need good laws and policies to make it work.

3 is Buhari on nairaland?? Because he need to see this list.

My fear is that some state mostly in core north can stand alone in all sense with restructuring, which is why some people are against it
But to make progress we got to weigh in the options, if the merits outweighs the demerits, then we got to implement Restructuring.
Those states can merge, we just hv to move forward.

Uniform development??

If your family lands are naturally endowed with plants that produce expensive fruits, but my family land does not have plants that produce expensive fruits,

with the proceeds from the expensive fruits from your family lands, you develop your family members, send them to better schools around the world

must I force you to share the proceeds from the fruits in your endowed land, because we belong to the same village? Never?

The better alternative is for me to think out of the box to find other legitimate methods to generate wealth to build my family and its people, perhaps better than you, as time goes on.

These indolent people are rewriting the laws of nature in Nigeria, because of crude oil, because Oyibo created and protects one Nigeria.

Enemies of Nigeria reform. The benefit of restructure outclass the problems you listed. More-so decentralization of power is what most successful countries are practicing including Dubai. State government along with good policies, the people must work hard and stop been lazy and under develop. There is no free money anywhere. Please for better understanding restructuring is a process and not a decree. The focus is lets make Benue, Taraba and others to develop like Lagos and to do that state must be competitive to derive and attract that internal growth to unable them pay salaries and others independently. Just discover what your state can do better and develop it. We must support it sincerely.

What the state losses due to oil exploration and what the farmers looses due to Pollution answers this question of yours. Those stealing their money will be closer to home for them to deal with rather than sit in Abuja and steal it from there.

2)enormous corruption and looting
Do you have proof of enormous corruption caused by Restructuring or you just want to talk?

Tribalism will be drastically reduced, if the FG is serious about ending tribalism they should state with removing LG of Origin from the constitution.
