Many women are quick to jump on the scale after they have given birth. They want to know how much weight they lost from the birth and how much excess they are still carrying. This often leads to shock and disappointment, when they discover they have a little more than they thought they would.


After this initial disappointment, some women find that by breastfeeding alone, they soon shift those extra pounds and are pleasantly surprised a few months later to be back to their pre-pregnancy weight without any hassle. For others though this isn't the case. Some breastfeed and struggle to lose the last few pounds, while others do not even breastfeed or simply can't. This makes losing weight that little harder.

To lose the post baby weight, your diet needs to be looked at properly. It is important that you are getting good calories that are low fat. This can be quite a daunting thing to take on, if you have never really bothered to look at your diet before.

As soon as you feel ready, you should incorporate some exercise into your life. Start with walks with the baby and build up to something more vigorous. Make sure it is fun and something you can stick to.

Don't beat yourself up if you slip up with your diet or you go a day without exercise. Living healthy is a life long process. You should enjoy losing your weight and it should be a part of a much bigger picture when it comes to your health.
