The last has not been heard of the latest ambust by the Nigerian Army by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state, as new report has made some shocking revelations.

A week after the fighters of the Islamic State West African Province attacked the Nigerian Army 157 Battalion’s base in Metele, Borno State, scores of dead and missing soldiers had yet to be located as air assets have been deployed in the area for search and rescue, according to military sources.

Also, troops have found it difficult to evacuate the decomposing bodies of soldiers who were brutally killed by the terrorists in the attack on the Metele military base last Sunday.

A military source told Punch on the telephone on Saturday that the troops that were sent to evacuate the remains of the slain soldiers were attacked by the insurgents and had to beat a tactical withdrawal.

The source said, “As of yesterday, around 10am, troops from 7 Brigade Baga went to Kangarwa 119 Task Force Battalion Defence Company’s location to recover three armoured tanks. They were ambushed and the insurgents carted away the tanks."

The source, who lamented that the morale among the soldiers was at an all-time low, said the bodies of those killed in Sunday’s attack on Metele were already decomposing in the bushes as the insurgents had continued to lay siege to the community.

“The corpses of those killed in Metele are still not evacuated and the soldiers that went for the evacuation were 147. They were attacked at the entrance to Metele,”
said the source who spoke to one of our correspondents on condition of anonymity.
“A captain was captured alive by the insurgents; the insurgents killed six soldiers from the company with seven soldiers still missing.”

He said apart from human loss, “the soldiers that went for the evacuation lost a battle tank and a gun truck to the insurgents.”

On the loss during the initial siege to Metele, he said, “Last Sunday’s attack on Metele, on the 157 Task Force Battalion, Metele, led to the loss of six officers and 56 soldiers, the eagle battle tanks, APC, riffles, mortars and bombs were all taking away by the insurgents.”
He said the company was able to evacuate six corpses in spite of the ambush.

The fact that these terrorist usually become vicious in their attack close to national elections is not only disturbing but suspicious.

Could there be a link between politicians and these deadly terrorist?

We should all condemn these attacks irrespective of any political divide one belong to.

147 soldiers sent to do what?. What happened to the airforce or war planes?. Lost more tanks to the terrorists?. Honestly i don't understand any more.THERE MUST BE SOME FORM OF COMPLICITY AND SABOTAGE FOR ALL THESE SHITS TO BE HAPPENING!!!.
The army should look inwards for their problems.

There are moles in all the rank and file of the NA

And the C-in-C is very much aware of that.

I feel sorry for the innocent soldiers who they have turned to pawns in this game of chess.

shocked Chai! What is going on for God's sake? BH still inflicting on the Nigerian military? And the president and army are stupidly threatening the surviving soldiers & Nigerians saying all these developments are propaganda from the opposition

What about the airforce reconnaissance squad or there is no inter-agency synergy between them? This is not good @ all.

Mobilize all ground forces and head to Metele on a head-on with the rag tags. We have been giving excuses that it's a guerrilla warfare; now the iswap are no longer hiding, why not mobilize and face them head on?

Unfortunately, our airforce is a dead rubber stamp. The Nigerian Army, rather than unite with the Airforce to get enough hardware for this war, sold the idea of having their own Airforce division within the army. The Nigerian Airforce kicked against this move with good reason but somehow, the presidency bought into this stupid idea.

The result is that both the Nigerian airforce and the army's airforce wing remained dormant and incompetent to coordinate air attacks.

Do we even many foot soldiers for this war if we had a strong Airforce?

propaganda can only get you so far...

BH still controls an appreciable territory in parts of the NE, their activities are however less pronounced because the people in those areas have learned to live with them & pay BH appropriate taxes...

the present attacks are as a result of expansionist agenda which is at the core of Islamic insurgency.

the time BH gave PMB to expand Sharia law across the country using state apparatus has lapsed, now they are going to do so by force & PMB has unwittingly (knowingly?) empowered them...
