The year is gradually coming to an end and one of the questions people tend to ask themselves during this period is ‘What and what have I achieved this year?’ probably, when the year started in January, you had a whole lot of plans especially when it comes to financial freedom and independence.

Due to some reasons, you may not have been able to achieved this. A new year will definitely come with new plans and one of such plans again is to be financially independent. Being broke ain’t fun even if it’s for a second. The question that will come to your mind is – ‘How will I achieve financial independence?’ well, it is no longer news that having a good certificate be it FSLC, SSLC, OND, HND, B.Sc. or even M.Sc. guarantees landing a good job anymore hence one needs to find legitimate ways of creating opportunities and making money.

Thinking of that alone brings other questions to mind – ‘How do I start and Where do I start from?’ For the later, start from where you find yourself.

Having a business plan/idea is no big deal rather having a business plan that fits into what you may call ‘my capital’ is the deal.

It is quite hard to find cash but it is even harder to have a cash that you set aside as capital for a particular business.

Starting a business is no joke and it’s neither a fairytale or a once upon a time story. Starting a business entails sacrifice, perseverance, emotional and psychological balance etc.

Anyways, sorry for the long introduction. Let’s dive straight into the game of the day. Below is a list of businesses you can start with little capital and make good profit from it.

Bulk SMS
Bulk messaging is the distribution of large numbers of SMS messages for delivery to mobile phone terminals. It is used by media companies, enterprises, banks (for marketing and fraud control) and consumer brands for a variety of purposes including entertainment, enterprise and mobile marketing.

It is also used by religious groups, businesses.

Bulk SMS is seen as one of the cheapest and fastest ways to send the message notification to a large group of people with a single click.

To start this business, you can find any of the bulk SMS websites and sign up. Then using their payment details, you can buy SMS from the sign and find clients which you can use to send their message on their behalf.

Snail farming
Snail farming in Nigeria is quite popular, this is due to its relatively low start-up cost of and If you market your products well, your business will thrive. The snail business needs close to zero naira to start-up. You can hunt for the snails at night, feed them with locally found leaves (e.g pawpaw leaves) and sell them out and make your money. Best in mind, locally fed snails take almost a year to mature so Patience is Key!

Sale of Mobile Accessories
Mobile Accessories such Pouches, Chargers, USB cables, HDMI cables, earphones and more, are things people buy on a daily. You can source for these items on Alibaba, Ali Express, Deal Extreme, etc. The more you buy the lower the price. And they are light so shipping won't be a burden. Make a bulk purchase, register them for listing on Jumia and earn your cool cash.

They're busy from Monday to Friday and Saturday the have engagement and on Sunday all they need do is rest. Advertise your idea on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc, include your numbers and cool off and wait for the ‘cash-calls’ to come in.

Home Cooking and Delivery
I know a friend who does not have time to cook. All he does is to place a call, tell a particular food vendor what he wants to eat. The vendor prepares it and delivers it to him. He pays for that. Now starting the cooking and delivery business is no bad idea.

Among the things you need is disposable plate for the packaging of the meal. Make tasty meals and snacks and make some cash from it.

You can as well make cakes, cookies, peanuts, chin-chin etc. to add up.
