In India, children are expected to start schooling by age 4+. Any age less than this goes to a play school.

Although , i dont think there is any best age for a child to start school, i certainly believe a child that young should be given some time to grow up a bit. In the good old days, our grand mothers breast feed their children even up till age 2 (quote me anywhere).
