I will start by appreciating President Muhammaduu Buhari and the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris on the review of the Police salary structure. I also congratulate all the
Nigerian police personnel.
Sir, I am appealing to the office of the President, the Minister of Information, the members of the National Assembly, the salaries and wages board, the senate committee on media, the Minister of Women Affair, the board of federal Radio corporation of nigeria, Nigerian Television authority and all concerned that what had just been done to the Nigerian Police salary structure should be replicated to the media workers.

Sir, the suffering is too much.

The media workers are living like beggars. It is not only that all the equuipment are outdated and the whole system has almost collapsed; the same applies to the personnel as well.

There is little or no training, contract staffs of over four years and little hope of being staffed, no thirteenth month, no leave allowance. There are no benefits except for the token paid at the month end and the token is so poor, all the workers live like beggars except for few who have husband, wife, and others supporting them.

Even the Director General's pay can only be compared to that of a middle cadre officers in other agencies and this has made life so difficult.

All my colleague live on loan as they have no salary. They borrow to pay rent, children school fees and meet other expenses. They have borrowed from banks, cooperative and other private loan outfit. The kids are being sent away from school; many cannot even feed while on shift. They live like parasites on others.

We appreciate the incubent government of President Muhammaduu Buhari & Prof. Osinbao for the find released to radio Nigeria but it is like pouuring water on dry ground. It will have little or no effect. The people that have been impoverished over time are being given this largesse; they will first use it to sort
urgent and pending issues out and as the remnant fund trickle down,a substantial chunk will be removed.......

Little or nothing change will take place in the corporation.

Why not first of all water the ground by implementing the media salary structure, staff contract workers, give personnel sound training to reorientate their mind right from the top.......

Then and only then can investment made into the corporation add value to it...

Baba, we appreciate your government and we will like you to know that if you do this one thing for the media; your name and that of your government will never be forgotten and your government will enoy the support of all media workers.

Late Mrs Dora Akuunyili of blessed memory started the crusade buut couuld not finish it and the media workers appreciate and celebrate her till date.

I pray God will uuse your administration to better the lot of not only the media workers buut also that of all fedreral workers harmonisation of salary.

We will keep talking and appealing to all concerned especially the President Muhammaduu Buhari, Vice President, the National Assemly, Alhaji Lai Mihammed and all concerned till we get to the promise land.

The media workers uunions have failed but God will not fail us and I pray youur administration will not fail.

Long live Baba and the Federal repuublic of Nigeria. We are so prouud of the achievements of this administration buut the morale of media workers is so low and we have no voice ironically in spite of the fact that we are a voice to many others who are oppreses and down trodden.

We wish Baba good health....
