My people, thanks for inviting me. OP, according to the American petroleum quality institute, they have certified duramax 5w30 synthetic blend as meeting the standard and not the full synthetic. We have discussed this oil issue with them in my office and in the end, we agreed that they should send me the details of the oil. Google the US market about the oil, there's a lot of sad tales about the oil. We bring any oil as long as it is 5w30 but the certification is not there. Duramax synthetic blend meets the standard it claims to satisfy and a lot of folks in the US are running away from the oil. 1 Like |

sooperrescue: Each of these Engine oils have their own standards. Synthetic blends have its own standard while full synthetic does too. It is preposterous to say that the synthetic blend meets the standards but its full synthetic doesn't. The question becomes they know it doesn't meet the standard and it is still being produced. Can you please show us proof of your claims showing that APQI (American Petroleum Quality Institute) certified the synthetic blend and not the full synthetic as meeting the standard. We have the seal of APQI on all our products as seen below. America with strict standard measures will not allow a product that does not meet certain standards to be produced, not to talk of exporting. Sir i guess you may have been misinformed or know nothing about what you are talking about. Like i said, please show us proof of your claims showing that APQI (American Petroleum Quality Institute) certified the synthetic blend and not the full synthetic as meeting the standard. You googled and saw some probably bad reviews and you concluded with the word "alot". I can imagine the meeting you claim you had with them in your office. Did they come? Lol... Just asking 1 Like |

USPlaceofAutos:Kemi spoke to me from your office years back and promised to send me the spec sheets of the synthetic oil. There's a very fair guy with glasses who came with another guy and they were marketing the oil. I agreed with the atf but for the 5w30, we disagreed based on bobistheoilguy reports and even though Reilly is a supporter of apqi, they approved the blend but we never saw the approval for the full synthetic. In an era of advanced full synthetic, who is bothered with full synthetic? 2 Likes |

I stopped using the atf because it is mercon v which is strange for a dexron 6 while other dexron 6 in the market are sp, lv for ford vehicles. If you are sure that things have changed since those guys left, show us proof from bobistheoilguy and apqi that the synthetic oil has been approved based on the improvement made by Reilly's. 1 Like |

Interesting discussions. Can we expand the discussion to include the Duramax 0w20? Indeed, I used this spec of engine oil for the last service of my car & sincerely, my engine runs smooth, quiet & I have got better mpg so far compared with what I got in the past. Can we have the data sheet? I have read good USA reviews of this particular spec. There are also established workshops in Nigeria who have used Duramax for years & have attested to it's quality provided the source is genuine. 1 Like |

bravolad: It will be a good idea too but let him show us proof that there has been an improvement in the product and not the management when all that they do is to distribute. That said, the 0w20 that worked for your car, can it work for a Range Rover or a BMW? I once challenged Eterna oil on their 5w20 castrol professionel. That oil is an api sl and anyone looking for castrol will think that it was the current oil. There's a Mobil 1 that is in the market and they wrote suitable for hondas, Toyota. There's Glife in the market and the oil says that it is suitable for compact cars and I see people buying it for their v8 Lexus. Is a v8 engine a compact car? He also claimed that apqi logo is on their oil can but I can't find it on the can. Let him show us reviews from the Americans and we will then believe him. That many garages uses the product does not mean that it is suitable for use. Did we not buy rymco oil before? Oil that dries up, is that one oyel? |

Interesting discussion. For good four years now have used this brand of engine oil, never for once has it dissapointed. Have used the transmission fluid on a wide range of vehicles e.g Honda, Toyota, Nissan, ford, chyrsler, Lexus and many more. It's one thing to know what you want in a product it's another thing to just follow the "them say". So many test have been carried out by me on this engine oil. It does what it's expected of and has never dissapointed. Recently installed a Lexus es350 2008 transmission which comes with U660E transmission (6spd). Duramax transmission fluid was what I used and it never dissapointed. My next transmission oil change is on a Toyota Venza 2010 and I would be using it as well. Don't be surprised the so-called Toyota WS and dw1 sold in naija are substandard. Use them at your own peril 2 Likes |

mayor2013:Good to hear that it worked out for you but like you stated for the atf, you said that you used it on Ford gear. Which of the Ford? It does not work on Ford requiring mercon sp and lv. And like I stated for which you just confirmed, it might be suitable for Toyota cars. But have you tried it on the real cars? 1 Like |

sooperrescue: Have used on chrysler 300c with the NAG1 transmission. I doubted it's compatibility on Honda before usage but since it met the spec of dw1 threw it in straight and it drank it all without errors 1 Like |

Re: The Preferred Engine Oil For Your Car Service - Duramax Motor Oil by mayor2013: 6:25am On Dec 13, 2018 |
helpishere: Worked on Ford Taurus. Never tried it on 7spd transmission but if it meets the specification why not if not. Why can't you try it rather than follow the " them say" just to get your own facts right |
Re: The Preferred Engine Oil For Your Car Service - Duramax Motor Oil by helpishere(m): 6:55am On Dec 13, 2018 |
mayor2013:Sooperrescue asked a question about the ATF. Why can't the oil be used in all Ford vehicles that requires Sp,lv since it's a dexron 6 and it's current. All ATF made from the US always claim to work with the three American car companies in the transmission fluids but a dexron 6 that works on only Mercon V for Ford vehicles is to be wary of. Ford Taurus uses Mercon V. Even Oando dexron 111h claims to work with Mercon V. We don't have to follow the them say crowd, every practitioner must stand up to defend their customers cars. Is Duramax ATF dexron 6, for six speed vehicle? Compare it to Total mvlv. Any oil that claims to work on dw1 should be six speed. Dw1 are for 2010 cars rolled backwards to atfz1. 1 Like |

helpishere: Bros, you have spoken well. Most of these atf are 5 speed and are not suitable for the claims they showed. I once used 2 litres of the oil on a Ford F150 and na trouble I see. Until we read well, we will not know that G Life engine oil is for compact cars and they wrote it at the back of the gallon. Let duramax write it on their gallon that the oil is suitable for Toyota, Honda and Kia cars so as not to mislead people in buying the oil because it is 5w30 or 0w20. Mobil 1 used their church mind create oil for Toyota and Honda cars but it is an advanced full synthetic oil. Is it just a title or advanced is higher than the full synthetic? |

This a theoretical forum. Speak of only what you have tried not what you hear all say. Do you know the so-called mobil 1 every one calls upon doesn't suit all vehicle. A client of ours who uses mobil1 on his Honda Accord 2008 i4 complained about shorter oil change interval. 2months OCI limit is reached. Until I told him to change to duramax that stopped. Take a look at what the engine looks like in the inside with the use of duramax 5w20. 4 years now
