Mrs Akeredolu Empowers Ondo State Women.
Human empowerment is the best gift to humanity, that is why the wife of Ondo State government, Arabinrin Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu since her inception has deemed it right to alleviate poverty among women and young girls in Ondo State through her empowerment initiatives under the umbrella of Forum for Wives of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO).
FOWOSO, which celebrates her one-year anniversary this year, through the office of the first lady , has empowered so many people especially women across the 18 local government area in Ondo state. This empowerment cuts across; distribution of hybrid Laptop computers to secondary school girls during “Bemore Summer Boot Camp” in August 2018, as part of the bid to get Ondo State digitalized, which in return earned her the name “Digital Mama”.
Mrs Akeredolu, created employment for those who has skills but lack equipment to stand on their own by distributing grinding machines, Hair drying machines and sewing machines to them so that they can earn a living and make their families much better. Again women and youths were trained on different skills, such as ICT, Fashion designing, Hair dressing, Shoe making, Soap and disinfectant production, Bead making and makeover artistry through her skill acquisition initiative, with the aim of reducing poverty and encouraging entrepreneurship in the state.
Also, as the founder of Breast Cancer Association (BRECAN), the first lady, sensitizes the public in Ondo state on prevention and breast cancer control, as she encourages women and young girls to always carry out Breast self-examination through a special dance called “SEKEM Dance” which is a fun way of passing breast self-examination (BSE).
Mrs. Akeredolu out of her magnanimous heart provides free treatment for women living with breast cancer.
