Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections or diseases that are passed on during unprotected sex with an infected partner. This includes vaginal, anal or MouthAction. Some STIs can be passed on by just skin-to-skin contact.

Mycoplasma genitalium

Mycoplasma genitalium, one of the smallest bacteria known, that lives on the ciliated epithelial cells of the urinary and genital tracts in humans. is gaining an outsized reputation as a worrisome STI.

It was  Identified in the 1980s, the bacterium today infects an estimated 1 to 2 per cent of people and is especially common in adolescents and young adults.

M. genitalium infection, though often asymptomatic, can mimic chlamydia or gonorrhoea with persistent irritation of the urethra and cervix. Because it may trigger pelvic inflammatory disease in the female reproductive system, it has been associated with infertility, miscarriage, premature birth and even stillbirth.



Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)

Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)  (also known as "Climatic bubo", "Durand–Nicolas–Favre disease", "Poradenitis inguinale", and "Strumous bubo" is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the invasive serovars L1, L2, L2a or L3 of Chlamydia trachomatis. LGV is primarily an infection of lymphatics and lymph nodes, causing an 'awful infection', and associated with multiple disease outbreaks

LGV is endemic in certain areas of Africa, Southeast Asia, India, the Caribbean, and South America.



Neisseria meningitidis

Neisseria meningitidis , often referred to as meningococcus, is a Gram-negative bacterium that can cause meningitis and other forms of meningococcal disease such as meningococcemia, a life-threatening sepsis which causes invasive meningitis, a potentially deadly infection of the brain and spinal cord's protective membranes.

More commonly, it's gaining a reputation as a cause of urogenital infections.

Roughly 5 to 10 per cent of adults likewise carry N. meningitidis in the back of the nose and throat.

Studies suggest they can potentially transmit the bacteria to partners through MouthAction, deep kissing or other kinds of close contact that transmit infected droplets.



 Shigella flexneri

Shigellosis (or Shigella dysentery)  is a species of Gram-negative bacteria in the genus Shigella that can cause diarrhea in humans. Several different serogroups of Shigella are described; S. flexneri belongs to group B. S. flexneri infections can usually be treated with antibiotics, although some strains have become resistant.

It Is passed on by direct or indirect contact with human faeces. The infection causes severe stomach cramps and explosive bouts of blood- and mucus-filled diarrhoea, which helps perpetuate transmission of the bacteria.
