President Goodluck Jonathan has called on religious leaders to continue to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria.

While speaking at a Prayer breakfast Meeting organised by the Aso Chapel in the State House, Abuja, on Saturday, he observed that the prayers offered by men and women of God were what have been keeping the country, adding that more prayers were needed to make the country perform better.

President Jonathan, who noted that the way out of the several challenges facing the country was through our trust in God, enjoined religious organisations to pray to God to guide our leaders and lead the nation.

President Jonathan, who referred to the scriptures, where the children of Israel experienced calamity as a result of their deviation from God, noted that it was a dangerous thing to turn away from God, pledging that he would continue to trust in God to direct him as he leads the country.

abeg if he is going to work he better starts working ohh!!! all this rubbish call for prayers by nigerian leaders don tire me, na prayer we go chop? mumus!!, for ages we have had muslim and christian leaders all calling for prayers as if prayer is going to give us 24hrs electricity 

someone better tell jonathan that 2 hands at work are worth more than a million hands clasped in prayer.

Problem is they don't wait for God to answer prayers when they are seeking offices
They take matters into their hands - assasination, thuggery, intimidation, rigging, blackmail, impeachments, removing opponents from office
But when Nigerians ask for performance, they suddenly become God fearing - we should trust God, pray etc

Religion is Nigeria's greatest obstacle. Religion is for drop outs. People hold on to religion, like a crutch because they can't make it any other way. With religion you stop being responsible for your own actions and blame someone else like God when it's something you like and the Devil when it's something you don't like.

We should pray for Efcc to take their job seriously. i think the problem with this country is corruption. but come oo!, with these prayer wey Jonathan dey talk, it be like say that promise for constant electricity don dey enter water oo!. na so dem go take die the matter. prayer ke!.

Absolute nonsense!! when they go about embezziling public funds do they remember God? Thats why we are not forging ahead. We just believe God will come down one day and change our country for us. Since 1960 we have been praying  and it has never gotten any better. Unless those pot belly thieving rogues that call themselves leaders change, Nothing will happen. I repeat nothing will happen.

all people so our political leaders in Nigeria should not be praying to God and at the same time endulging in Corrupt Practices!!!,

prayer or no prayer, i think God have tried for us by giving us the natural resources especially crude oil and as human beings, God gave us brain to think and think out something on how to better our society, God also made us to be able to differentiate b/w good and bad so it's left for us as human beings to make use of what god gave us in bettering our society. since our leaders sees their attitude as something good for the nation, make them carry waka!. as for me i am praying for long live and prosperity and not for the nation. period!

well since he deems it the right way forward Jonathan should gather all the prayer warriors in all zones of the country , and begin to pray , let them begin to pray for solutions that we already have. Nonsense!!!!

Play your part well Oga, and leave the rest to God. Did all of you remember God when you made election a do or die affair? Pray to God to forgive you for all the hardships you politicians had caused all of us.
