When asked if the Senate was not aware of the highly publicised conviction of Dariye, Olaniyonu said the legislative arm of government does not act based on media reports but on official communication. He said: “The Senate President has no power to declare any seat vacant except he is presented with a request. We have to receive official communication from those who prosecuted him. We cannot read a report in the newspapers and go ahead to declare his seat vacant. I find the bold very funny coming from the legislative arm of government. The way and manner we run the affairs of this country is filled with theatrics. Yet this same people will want/expect EFCC to investigate someone for alleged corrupt practices just because there's an uploaded video/audio in social media platforms. They will expect PMB to come out and say he is not PMB but Jubril of Sudan because some clowns believe otherwise and put the information on social media platforms. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Most times, it's corrupt minds that create the flaws. There is no perfect system anywhere. When AG didn't write you to inform you what to do, why didn't you write AG to seek advise. Soon people will start blowing grammar analyzing the issue on TVs and of course it will pass. It's the same legislative aides that process all this and still don't know what to do except to occasionally line up to attract attention. Some day, the people at the receiving end will wake up and realize that truly power to enforce change is in their hands. |
