There are already strong punishments for corrupt people. Guess who those punishments are used against? The average criminal who cannot afford a good lawyer. All of you shouting capital punishment for corruption don't know that should such a law be passed, it is mostly your average, struggling criminal that would face such punishment.

Why are these countries less corrupt than China?

This should tell you that there are underlying issues that need to be corrected in order to stop a crime. People would commit crimes regardless of the punishment. You should be putting measures in place that would not allow them commit the crime even when they want to. Besides, if corruption is made a capital offence, do you think any serious politician would fall prey to such a law? It is the yahoo boys on the street who would get it. There are already very strong laws to deal with corruption. How are those working out?

Like I said, most Nigerians are frustrated and have blood lust.

China till date still hunts and punishes corrupt government officials but this talk about China becoming the global powerhouse it is today because it killed corrupt government officials back in the day is funny to say the least because the government in power before the revolutionaries took over in 1949 fled to Taiwan and anyone who knows better know Taiwan is no economic slouch. Peter obi is right to use China as an example because Real change began in China over three decades ago with the adoption of a more friendly business regime by the Chinese government and not by killing as loads of comments claim here.

There are lots of corrupt politicians who despite being corrupt have never even been prosecuted because they are close to members of the politburo. You're the first person on this thread with a good head. While China was developing, it's politicians and army generals were also becoming stupendously rich by selling shares of companies to themselves at pennies on a dollar amongst other forms of corrupt practices. The execution really became mainstream when Xi Jinping came to power in 2012. And it could be argued that it's for his own power consolidation and strengthening the party's hold on public sentiments.

Integrity doesn't create growth and Nigeria needs tons of it. An honest man can still lose money if he doesn't understand accounting. Integrity is only a plus, not the determinant for development. Infact, in the real world, corruption is weaved into all aspects of dealings.

But those countries have their own measures against corruption. Corruption is not seen as way of life in America like we see it in Nigeria. And who told u they are less corrupt than China? No one is saying corruption can be stopped but it can be minimized and not be encouraged in anyway...sincerely, this shouldn't be a topic of debate for any reasonable individual. Why will a right thinking person say corruption should be left unchecked...
