Is employment of para-military running to 20,000 not creation of employment, is creation of jobs through Npower of over 400,000 not job creation, is creation of jobs through agricultural revolution not job creation, is loan given to smse not part of job creation, is job created through infrastructure development not job creation. There may be mixed up somewhere whether Boss of BS has been bought by pdp

A president who had F9 in Mathematics is ordering NBS to go change figures just like that. Wonderful!

Does 12 million new rice producers actually mean Buhari created 12 million jobs?

If I go take up a small piece of land in my hometown and start farming, does it mean Buhari gave me or created a job for me?

Na question I ask ooo because ayam confuse
Buhary wants to substitute a part time farmer who earns N10k with a skilled worker who lost a N200k job

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Statistician-General of the National Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Yemi Kale, to change the high unemployment statistics and reflect the rising rate of employment in the agriculture sector.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said this on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television.

Shehu said during a recent meeting with the Federal Executive Council, Kale admitted that the NBS was only focusing on the creation of white collar jobs and not the agriculture sector and the informal sector.

He said the President subsequently told him to go and admit his error to members of the public and make appropriate changes.

When asked why job losses were being recorded, Shehu said, “There was a departure last week. The NBS chief had addressed the federal cabinet and he made the admission himself that they had concentrated analysis over time on white collar jobs and they had not taken cognisance of job creation in areas of agriculture.

“Rice Producers Association of Nigeria made the open claim and nobody has challenged them up until the time that we speak, that they had created 12 million new jobs.

“When he finished addressing the federal cabinet last week, the government asked the DG of the NBS, go out there and tell the Nigerian public, you are just saying to us now that Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi and Ebonyi are recording the lowest unemployment rates in the country on account of agriculture.

“So, the point is that the data collected which has formed judgement on the data that have been passed and misleading and I think there is now a convergence. The data has been unfair to the administration, it had ignored job creation in the areas of agriculture but that is now being integrated and Nigerians will be impressed.”

However, a spokesman for the Abubakar Atiku Campaign Organisation, Mr. Phrank Shuaibu, who was on the programme, lambasted Shehu, accusing the Presidency of attempting to alter job statistics on the eve of elections.

Shuaibu said, “The National Bureau of Statics came for EFC meeting and according to the President’s spokesman, the man admitted that he miscalculated. That is an agency funded by government, not an agency sponsored by any international organisation.

“He has forgotten that this is not 1984. 2015 is not 1984. The world has gone digital but because they are operating an analogue system of government, they don’t know that even a 10-year-old can use the internet to find out statistics.

“When the NBS came out with the figures about loss of jobs and how it was affecting the economy, nobody came out to defend the government. But just as the certificate issue was managed, they have pushed the DG to the villa and obviously dictated to him what he should say.

“You cannot say that a government that is in power, the DG of NBS reeled out statistics, you did nothing to him, many months after and because elections are here, on the eve of elections, he is summoned to FEC and is asked to generate new figures. That is a fallacious tale and an affront on the sensibilities of Nigerians and they should apologise to us.”

Incidentally, the NBS has failed to release the statistics on unemployment for over a year, citing lack of funds as the reason.

However, the opposition has always insisted that the Presidency had ordered the agency not to release the figures until after elections.

How and when did they collate acclaimed created jobs....

The sacked jobless farmers in all IDP camps minus the acclaimed created jobs in rice farming equals...

Other states in Nigeria where rice farming is not en vogue do not merit job creation. Is that the case here?

It is well...even in the well!!!

In as much as this govt is trying but the efforts so far can be rated 20percent for lack of effectiveness in changing the standard of living of Nigerians, and so we need a new govt to try their best this time as we can no more in this precarious economic condition of the nation.

Bros, the standard of living is very wide and deep. It is simple to define but very difficult not impossible to attain. However, within 4years, it is too much to ask from this government to change it dramatically.

A single or singular effort by a government does not improve the standard of living of the people but a collection of collaborative efforts of both the private individuals and the government will impart on the lives of the citizens.

How can standard of living be improved?
1. Providing and consistently maintaining the socio-economic infrastructural projects in the short run and long run periods. Some of them are motorable roads, relatively constant power supply, good railway system, etc

2. Making agricultural sector of the economy look attractive through some policies. To do this, it takes a lot of efforts and time to change the human attitude towards farming. Money spent on imported foods in this country is massively much. Subsistence and Commercial farming should be greatly encouraged. With this, there will be enough to eat as families and to sell locally and externally. Food which is one of the important indices of standard of living will be in abandance. Just imagine this that if 30% to 40 % of the Nigerian population engage in agriculture, wow! then there won't be problem of food in this country. This will shoot up, all things being equal, the GDP, lower imports, lower excessive spending of foreign reserves, increase government and individual savings, increase the employment index, increase exports, appreciate the value of naira currency as a result of favorable
market forces of demand and supply of foreign exchange and just to mention a few of the benefits

3. Cutting down excessive government expenses and leakages. These include some allowances paid to senators, ministers, governors and even the presidents. Unnecessary offices and ministries should either be shut down or merged. Most importantly, the leakage or better still the corruption or specifically financial misappropriation in government MUST BE BLOCKED and the recovery of looted funds or properties from the looters should be fairly carried out.

Surely, there will be saboteurs among people and government officials, but their numbers should be insignificant if meaningful efforts of the government are to be successful.

4. If I continue to write, I won't be able to go out for work. Managing plus ➕ or minus ➖ 200 millions of people or diverse tribes cum pressure from the senate and killings by Boko Haram and others like fulani herds men and IPOB is not unimaginably easy.

I am not really against or entirely in support of the policies and actions of this government, but within 3.5 years of governance, it is not possible to attain a high level of standard of living. I may have missed out some things perhaps because of time.
