When you say resale value, do you also factor-in purchase value?

You buy a 2004 model toyota for 1.7-1.8m toks and after some years you sell for 1.1-1.2m if in perfect condition
You buy a 2004 model Volvo S40 for 900-950k toks and after some years you sell for 500k if in perfect condition

Now can someone explain to me how the corolla has better resale value, or you guys just calculate how much you sold the car and assume all were initially bought at the same price?

My brother, it's just the general assumption in Nigeria though. Even though same brand have better resale value in Nigeria than other brands which is as well applicable in the United States. Take for instance a Mercedes vs a Lexus. Both are Luxury brands but it's a known fact that the Lexus has a better resale value than the Mercedes.

When purchasing a vehicle, the resale value mentality is the least of my concern. What i am after is a brand i love, a vehicle that will serve me well and parts availability. Every other is a secondary issue to me.

I bought my Golf 4 in 2012 for 850k, 6 years gone. If I wanna sell now, at all at all, people will rush it for 450k.

You treat a Benz nicely with Mobil 1 or Liqui Molly full synthetic oils. And OEM parts. Now fire that 3star vehicle!! That's one major way to keep a Mercedes in top shape. Don't pamper a Benz by driving like a grandma all the time with it!!!!

Our definition of pamper is different. By pamper I don't mean, I'll drive like a grandma. I love fast driving and I'm a fast driver, I love speed but the plan is to drive this car only on long distance journey, not for city daily shuttle, so many once or twice a week is when I'll get to drive the car.

My cousin who helped me get it previously owned the car so, I'm well informed about the right food for the car, besides, there are nice knowledgeable people around here whom I can always run to for enlightenment.

Around here, people use the Total 20w50 oil and it was what I used and still using for my Golf.....i have learnt not to try that with the Benz.
