What is nice in admitting to telling a lie? Below is what Atiku tweeted.

So tell me, what is the error of communication in the statement above?

Unnecessary controversy like this is what you get when you politicize everything to score cheap political points. If he had made the call with good intention and not for publicity sake, he wouldn’t have posted it on tweeter and wouldn’t be getting this backlash that shows he’s a desperate politician. Hopefully, he would learn from this and stop jumping to make political reactions to almost every news item.
Where did he state that he spoke with her?

You this unthinking APC supporter....

@Naija Politico

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has retracted his earlier story of speaking with the widow of Lt. Col Ibrahim Sakaba, killed by Boko Haram at Metele last month.

He now said he spoke with the slain soldier’s sister, Maryam.

Naija Politico learnt that the PDP candidate had opened himself to widespread derision following his online post that he spoke with Seun, Sawaba’s wife.

But the woman denied she received a phone call from Abubakar and wondered why the 72 year-old politician lied.

Abubakar has now set the record straight and apologized for the “erroneous communication”.

Here is Atiku Abubakar’s statement:

Following the death of Lt. Col Ibrahim Sakaba during the Boko Haram insurgents’ attack on 157 Taskforce Battalion in Metele, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar’s staff has made efforts to get the contact of his widow to enable the former Vice President express his condolences over the loss of the fallen hero.

Over the weekend, Atiku Abubakar was availed with phone numbers of Mrs. Sakaba and Maryam, younger sister of the late soldier, in the alternative.

On Sunday, the former Vice President tried albeit unsuccessfully to contact Mrs. Sakaba but was able to eventually speak with Maryam, younger sister of the gallant soldier during which he expressed his deepest condolences to the family.

However, this communication was erroneously communicated. The error is regretted.

Atiku Abubakar, however reaffirms his deepest condolences to the Sakaba family, which sacrifices, like those of their brave son, keeps us safe.

Atiku is beginning to remind me of Hillary Clinton.

Someone who has the best opportunity and support but will singlehandedly blow it by pursuing trivialities.

His team should be hitting Buhari back to back with list of failed promises, health issues, ASUU/ASUP strikes, minimum wage saga, Boko Haram, herdsmen, etc to the point that it will irritate them. Like fighters, once APC propaganda machine gets irritated, they will lose focus.

APC feeds off of propaganda. What defeats propaganda? Facts! Unbelievable. SMH. PDP election coordinators are morons.

Talking about economy is all well and dandy. One person, one vote. They need to appeal to the artisans, illiterates and victims of Boko menace as well. I dare say that in times of challenges at the poll, an almajiri or a thug/tout is more likely to vote than the fellas in air-conditioned cars. PDP must reach out if they are serious. Atiku is not very visible at all.

I believe that Atiku is comfortable in his position. Whichever way the pendulum swings, the Presidency belongs to the Fulanis. It trumps everything else as Fulanis' interests in Nigeria supercede other considerations. When push comes to shove, he can easily run back to APC and his brothers will gladly welcome him with open arms.

One thing I know, and clearly too, Atiku can never become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Mark it!
