10. Jurassic world

The 2018 American science fiction adventure film “Jurasic world” and the sequel to Jurassic World (2015) directed by J.A Bayona hit Nigerian cinema on the 8th of June. Movie enthusiasts were thrilled to see the sequel come back after its previous 2015 debut. Although the movie had average ratings on top movie review websites, it did meet audience expectations with better graphics, thrilling plot twists and of course bigger dinosaurs!

9. Deadpool II

Scoring well over 75% across top review sites, the super hero movie tells the tale of a wisecracking mercenary “Deadpool” who meets Russell, an angry teenage mutant who lives at an orphanage. When Russell becomes the target of Cable- “a genetically enhanced soldier from the future” Deadpool realizes that he’ll need some help saving the boy from such a superior enemy. 7. Ant-man and the Wasp

One of Stan Lee’s masterpiece “Ant man and the wasp” hit Nigerian cinema on the 6th of July 2018, immediately receiving worldwide commendation and scoring very high on top review sites.
The blockbuster is about a young man Scott Lang, who grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. The urgent mission soon leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against a powerful new enemy.

6. Mission Impossible- The fallout

All right guys, now 2018 was one great year for sequels! But for a Tom Cruise movie, nobody expected anything less. If you have been following the mission impossible story, then perhaps you’d see why i never expect anything less from the thriller genius (Tom cruise).
The movie saw Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. 5. King of boys

When Kemi Adetiba made her debut in Nigerian cinema with the exhilarating wedding party script, written alongside Tosin Otudeko, we knew that a play maker had entered the industry.
Her political thriller “King of Boys” follows the story of Alhaja Eniola Salami, a businesswoman and philanthropist with a checkered past and a promising political future. She is a pillar of society — loved by many, feared by most, and truly known by a select few. As her political ambitions see her outgrowing the underworld connections responsible for her considerable wealth, she’s drawn into a power struggle that threatens everything she holds dear. To come out of this on top, she will need every ounce of the cunning, ruthlessness, and strategy that took her to the top, as well as the loyalty of those closest to her.
The movie hit Nigerian cinema on the 20th of October.

4. Aquaman

With his almost perfect physic, vibrato voice and enthralling acting, Jason Momoa is one stud ladies want to see naked in a movie (or at least half naked). And the beast sure knows how to make them want it!
Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people — and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Aquaman, Orm’s half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne. With help from royal counselor Vulko, Aquaman must retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and embrace his destiny as protector of the deep.
The blockbuster hit Nigerian cinema on the 21st of December, a little over a week ago but is receiving wide spread praise in no time.

3. Avengers- Infinity war

With around 500 million dollars in budget and featuring stars like Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlet Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland and many more, Marvel’s Avengers infinity war made over 2 billion dollars at the worldwide box office. (Almost equivalent to south Sudan’s GDP)

Infinity war sees Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
The blockbuster hit Nigerian cinema on the 27th of April.

2. Chief Daddy

EbonyLife Tv’s comedy “Chief Daddy” got off to a superb start, selling over N40 million worth of movie tickets in its first three days of regional release. (trust me, that’s quite a lot for a Nigerian movie)
Chief Daddy” tells the story of billionaire industrialist “Chief Beecroft”, a flamboyant benefactor to a large extended family of relatives, household staff and assorted mistresses.
Chief lives large, like there’s no tomorrow, until the day he dies suddenly and the ‘bullion van’ stops.
With stars like Falz, Linda Ejiofor, Kate Henshaw, Funke Akindele, and more; Ebony life movies have got a thing for attracting stars, as with their previous cinema success “wedding party”. The comedy also saw high profile Nigerians, political aspirants and even the nation’s vice president witness its premiere.
Released officially on the 14th of December, chief daddy was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.
