Tennis stars Serena Williams and Roger Federer will play against each other for the first time at the Hopman Cup on Tuesday.

The match has been described as the most anticipated contest involving a male and female player since the "Battle of the Sexes" in 1973.

Both Federer and Williams have won a combined stunning 43 Grand Slam titles.

For both Switzerland and USA, it will be the second of three group-stage matches so qualification to the final could hinge on the result.

MySportDab report Williams, who lost to sister Venus in an exhibition match in Abu Dhabi this week, is ready to face one of the greatest male players of all-time.

“You know I’ve been training offseason to be ready for Roger, so not sure how I’m going to do but we’ll see,” Williams said.

“I always enjoy playing in Western Australia in front of the crowd at Perth Arena.

“The Aussie fans are so warm and supportive and the Hopman Cup always gives me a great start to the season, especially ahead of the Australian Open.”

Williams will team up With Frances Tiafoe while Federer partners Belinda Bencic.
