Following the announcement by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC that it will embark on a nationwide strike on the 8 of Jan, the union has said that further meeting with the Federal Government over the proposed N30, 000 new minimum wage is no longer necessary.

The General Secretary, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson confirmed receipt of invitation for a meeting with the Federal Government to Vangaurd on Wednesday.

Ozo-Eson said that the labour had received letter from the labour, but added that NLC would honour the invitation, though it (labour) had passed the stage of attending meetings on the issue of minimum wage.

According to him,it was expected of government was to forward a bill to the national assembly for the enactment of new minimum wage act.
