Nigerian Youths: Politics, Plight and Response.


The Nigerian youth, the first African youth, the messiahs of African democracy. This is only your potential and destiny, and people die every day with their potential and destiny. We must understand that potentials and destinies are nothing more than possibilities which work with logic, choices and natural law.


Flashback to the eve of independence, the 1960 political generation knew that there was a manifest destiny, a destiny to lead Africa. However, they never knew that this destiny so great, needed more than mere talk and prophecy to actually manifest. They never knew that the country will be thrown into several minor and major conflicts that could possibly divide the country's citizens psychologically for life just few years from independence. Most importantly, they never thought it wise to understand that they were humans and will surely outlive their existence some day and leave the spoils of wars, conflicts and ethnic bigotry for the coming generation, because in all their calculations, they developed not an atom of respect for neither vanity nor humanity. This is one phenomenon that has undoubtedly been transferred from their generation to ours. From one lie to another, we have come thus far.


“In a nutshell, we have lived long enough to understand the truth and the lies.” .


FROM WHEN WILL WE BEGIN TO TELL OURSELVES THE TRUTH?


When it comes to politics, the picture is as clear as it can be, youths do not believe in the political system created by the 1960 politicians and their mentality. They created a political mentality of do or die, of divide and rule, of corruption as motivation for political participation and above all, a mentality of regime security rather than national security. It is also not difficult to see that like us, they do not believe in education, thus the horrible state of both state and federal schools, from basic to tertiary institutions. In their mentality, division is strength, and unity, a fallacy.


What is noteworthy at this point, is that the consequences of their choices, which are indirectly our choices and the choices of our forefathers, will be paid for, by the entire black race, for it is easy to see where all this is going without a microscope. Africa, from the birth of this mentality, has been a pool of conflicts, and will continue to be until we hit the rock of total war, which is the climax of the kind of insecurity Nigeria and Africa suffers.


What are we angry about? .


“It will only get worse if we keep reacting this way.” .


The plights of the youths are buried deep in responsibility and expectation arising from the so called manifest destiny and messiah-ship of Africa which has been misconceived by the 1960 generation to mean driving the continent deep into corruption and insecurity.
However, these expectations and responsibilities which are to be directed towards the government are directed inwardly to the youths themselves, since they do not believe in the 1960 generation of politicians.
The consequence of this is what I like to call early maturity. A wonderful illustration would be…


“those kids who are to be blowing knockouts are buying or planning to buy benz, knowing that buying benz and stuff only pulls down the naira against the dollar” .


…Unequal opportunities, fused with an unfair play-ground have led to a high level of unemployment and psychological imbalance among youths. The result is an increase in all man for himself mentality.


The social class stratification is another plight, as it is better imagined in a 2018 Nigerian society, that the poor unemployed youth will break into the upper class. This is still the case even with the proliferating get rich quick mentality in the society.


Opportunity is said to be the only antidote to poverty, however with the very few opportunities available only to the highly connected, Nigerian youths have formed a habit of finding opportunities where none exists.


“Our response undermines our size, creativity and exposure and position in Africa“.


Action causes reaction; therefore Nigerians are reacting to their plight in various ways which are in most cases termed unhealthy for a developing society like Nigeria and by extension, Africa.


The constant increase in political apathy among youths is a major in the unhealthy reactions, more so, when Nigerian youths are exposed enough to understand the effect of political apathy in a society.


Social media heavy weights, but no weight pulled politically except as evil agents of propaganda and hate, therefore, furthering the insolence of the passing generation of politicians.


“The politicians and celebrities only want to white in appearance, not in ideology” .


We are out of mentors in the society. Politicians should be our first mentors, but youths have found mentors in musicians and celebrities who want nothing but to be white in nature and culture. Even at the rate of copycat, the opposite achievement is the case, because the significant parts of white culture which includes political awareness are constantly ignored.


We also have so many youths running away from the problem, only to meet a bigger problem wherever they find themselves. If you doubt me ask the Libyans and co. Even when we succeed in making the illegal money, just like our mentor celebrities, we waist it on the white man’s products, causing further damage to our society, politically, socially and economically.


This clearly shows that no matter how much we run from Nigerian society and politics, our mentality, ideology and drive are still products of this political system, as the culture copying being practiced today started with the politicians who have been copying since 1960, but fortunately for their pockets, have only succeeded in copying the defects of white culture into the defunct black culture.


“Countless political parties, not a single ideology, except camping and decamping” .



EVOLUTION RECOMMENDATION


“We must phase out their mentality with an ideology” .


The recommendation lies in our response to our nature, our political system, and our plight. There is no living creature without a plight, plights are natural. We must find ourselves somewhere as far as life is concerned. Rich, poor, confused, tired, sick, wounded, disabled, heart broken, there will also be criminals. This is evidence to show the dynamics of life and natural existence.


Wherever we find ourselves, the first thing is acceptance, we are who we are.
Then we must decide what we want and the direction to go. The poor man might decide to get rich by any means available to him. There is always the factor of choice.


“A decision must be made” .


We must understand that whichever direction we choose, the foundation is not entirely ours to lay. For example, the plight we are faced with today is as a result of bad choices made by leaders, some of whom are still alive witnessing the damage already done and ready to do nothing to improve living conditions. Some were made by our forefathers, who perhaps chose to suffer and smile.


“If we don’t find a way to check and influence the people at the top, then there will be no way for anyone until the country is restarted by years of war, with neither victor nor vanquished.” .


This is inevitable in any society swimming in a pool of corruption.


We must create for ourselves, an ideology that works. A unique political ideology that covers all aspects of our lives. This, 1960 political generation failed to do. Till date, neither the north, south, east or west have an ideology except the usual corruption or the angry sit at home lot. We must flush out their mentality with an ideology that actually works.


It is easy to see, the people we try to copy, the west, how they got where they are now, there has always been an ideological battle. In peace, and in war, these ideologies persisted, till the ideological focus became the people, because it was the only way to preserve the peace of the world.


I know that if the west were still as shallow in mentality as Africans, Africa will still be unable to grasp the meaning of democracy, and our so called leaders will melt at the site of the white man and his weapons of colonialism.


“This ideology must be directed at correcting the misconceptions in music and education.” .
