Abuja Court To Grant Accelerated Hearing To Sowore's Suit Against NEDG/BON Debat by Ventura1: 11:53am On Jan 03, 2019
An Abuja High Court has decided to grant accelerated hearing to a suit filed by the African Action Congress (AAC) and its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, against the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG), Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) and Mr. John Momoh, Chairman of BON, challenging the party's exclusion from the presidential election debate organised by the respondents.

Eddie Emessiri, Executive Secretary of NEDG, had earlier claimed that "character and popularity" led to Sowore's exclusion from the debate. However, he had later claimed that "lack of funds" was the reason for restricting the presidential debate to just five candidates.

Sitting in Court 14 of the FCT High Court, Jabi, on Monday, Honourable Justice D.Z. Senchi listened to a motion ex parte for interim injunction to restrain the defendants from organising or holding the January 19, 2019 presidential election debate without including the AAC among the political parties selected to participate in the debate.

A statement by Rachel Onamusi-Kpiasi, Director, PR, Media and Communications of the Sowore 2019 Campaign/African Action Congress, noted that after listening to submissions made by Inibehe Effiong, the National Legal Adviser of the AAC, the court ruled that the urgency of the case warranted an accelerated hearing of the suit to allow all parties in the suit to state their cases before a decision could be made.

He, therefore, adjourned the case to January 8, 2019 for hearing and also ordered that all processes in the suit must be filed before the next adjourned date and that no application for extension of time will be entertained by the court.

Representing AAC in court were the party’s National Legal Adviser, Inibehe Effiong; his co-counsel, Mr. Seprebofa Oyeghe; AAC Deputy National Secretary, Dr. Joshua Adeoye; AAC National Organizing Secretary, Philip Oshiokhue, and other members of the party.

In a school, they are 180 students in 100 level. 110 students offer courses in Aerospace engineering, 88 offers courses in cyber security and 65 offer courses in ICT. If 40 students offer courses in both aerospace engineering and cyber security, 38 offer courses in cyber security only. Find the number of students who offer:

A. All the three courses

B. ICT only

C. None of the 3 courses

D. At least one course

E. Either one or two of the three courses

This Sowore guy is really pulling weight and would be Bubu's biggest threat in the forthcoming elections.. But I doubt if he can beat Bubu in Katsina.

The Nigerian middle class likes to wait for the upper class to endorse a person before they can vote for them. If you are a graduate you are in that class- never mind that you may not be there economically. Your intellect places you in it.

Jesus told the Pharisees that they would not accept him because they were seeking one another's approval. The Pharisees were the enlightened people of their time. They were versed in the law and not at the level of the commoners but they needed to see that someone of high social status was vouching for Jesus before they would follow him.

Why do we need OBJ, Tinubu, Danjuma, Babangida and other people in their class to endorse a candidate before we support him or her? Are the above mentioned persons in our class? Do they have our worries? When they were in the middle class in the sixties and seventies and they decided to take over government, did they not just do so?

Here is the news and you know it:
The change you seek will never come from the upper class. No revolution ever does. They say that necessity is the mother of invention. Obasanjo, Tinubu, Danjuma and Babangida do not have the need we have for a revolution. No real change will be brought by the upper class.

If Sowore is eventually included in the debate, well, I don't see Atiku and Buhari coming to the debate.

They know he's a threat , BON, NEDG are all allies to the corrupt old mongrels. These people are evil , Sowore is definitely 100% the right candidate, to hell with atifku and Jubril.

The guy is well spiced and educated.
But, Nigerians won't notice him now.

NIGERIA can be better when a son of nobody becomes the president.

I love this

If you know the serious horse trading that would have happened underneath before they could come to such a decision to exclude him....

I personally don't believe these organisations cared.... They are all for self preservation and foreign grants and other goodies the limelight can fetch them. Sowore scares a lot of these old timers and I for one wish to see him up against other contestants even if it means Buhari and Atiku will stay away cos of that.... We are getting there gradually!!!

I like sowore but how come he and his vice are yoruba? Is it that he doesn't have competent people from other tribes that he trust? In fact sowore is not serious he doesn't know other tribes are tired of yoruba and Hausa.

How is he not civil? Calling a corrupt politician corrupt is not uncivil...
Berating our generals is not uncivil...
Saying the government are not sympathetic to the plight of Nigerians is not uncivil...

We are now in an era where the number of presidential candidates presented to Nigerians by traditional media organizations are less than the number of political parties registered by INEC. Why limit those invited for the presidential debates to only 5 for millions of Nigerians to watch while sidelining other parties and their candidates? If fundunding is the problem, then forget about organizing the debates - Nigerians are smarter now and can organize debates via social media.

Everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard. If the basis for selecting those that deserve to be heard is on "popularity and character" , some of those currently selected don't meet up.

Sowore did the right thing by fighting for his voice to be heard. After all, they are all registered by INEC.
