Since 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari came into power, he has made a lot of achievements in different sectors from Power supply to the fight against corruption, security, economy, infrastructure, agriculture, to mention but a few, compared to 16 years of PDP in power. Below are some of his achievements in the Agriculture sector;

- The Anchor Borrowers’ Programme which was aimed at fast-tracking access of rural farmers to finance productivity. it was a success as it made available N82billion in funding to 350,000 farmers of rice, wheat, maize, cotton, cassava, poultry, soy beans and groundnut who have cultivated about 400,000 hectares of land.

- Provision of agricultural credit for financing the production of rice, wheat, ginger, maize and soybeans in Kebbi, Niger, Kaduna, Kano, Enugu, Benue, Zamfara, Anambra and Kwara States was made available.


-The sub-sectors of the economy experiencing negative growth has fallen from 29 sub-sectors for the whole of 2016 to 16 in Q1 2017 under Buhari administration. The Growth in manufacturing has however returned to positive territory after five quarters of negative growth, with growth by 1.36% in Q1 2017 after falling to -7.0% in Q1 2016.

- Nigeria's priority Sectors of Agriculture and Solid Minerals improved in performance, in spite of the recession. The country's Agriculture in 2016 grew by 4.11%, while Solid Minerals recorded a 7% increase. However in 2016 The contribution of the Ministry of Solid Minerals’ to the Federation Account tripled to about N2 billion from N700m in 2015.

- The Home Grown Feeding Programme which is designed to put an end to importation and market monopoly of farm produce that can be grown here in our country which is a pilot vehicle to sustainable economic, agricultural, academic and job creation across the length and breadth of our nation.
