In a culture where beats are vital to the music, the role of a producer has grown over the years from that guy at the other side of the booth, pressing the keys to becoming the individual harmonizing the entire journey, picking the right keys and tempo to get the best performance out of the entire process.

So while there have been producers who have had one hit wonders, or a spell of successful records, there have been others who have been upped the bar in influencing and dictating the sound scape through iconic albums or records.



The art of production may have evolved over the years making it an all-corners affair, but there are few who have shown outstanding finesse in their craft.

Every artist needs the right canvas to display his talents and the producers role is steeped in transforming a raw sound into a refined finished products.

Here is a list of essential Nigerian music producers who made all music’s in 2018 a unique one.

1. Killertunes


Killertunes which is also known for his popular sound tag “SHABALISTICA” did so well in the Nigerian music industry in 2018 by delivering hit singles with the like of “Baba” by DJ Spinall and Kizz Daniel, Fake Love by Wizkid and Duncan Mighty, Nowoby DJ Spinall and Wizkid, Motigbana by Olamide which still the streets favorite.

He also did an amazing work on the tune “Fall in Love” by T-Classic featuring Mayorkun.
It should also be noted that Killertunes was the brain behind the hit single titled “Bobo” by Mayorkun featuring DMW boss Davido.



Logba Logba and Puna by Olamide was also produced by Killertunes and many more others too numerous to mention, and with no doubts he’s the Baba (King) in Nigerian music.

2. Speroach Beatz


This guy came in with a huge vibe, he built his craft working with the like of Assurance by Davido and Amaka by 2Baba and Peruzzi.

Assurance wasn’t just a tune like many other music, it came with lot of vibes from the instrumental down to every other promotional packages that was alter by the crooner-Davido.

Amaka by 2Baba and Peruzzi was something unique which talks much about this particular girl called “Amaka” who disappointed them even after all their agreement that she wil Lap..wink



Amaka became the talk of the time via social media and streets.

3. Spellz


The skillfully gifted, Spellz remains one of the most consistent and loved names on the scene.

From working on classic tunes like “Lova Lova” by Tiwa Savage featuring Duncan Mighty, “Sabi” by Ceeza Milli featuring and Duncan Mighty, and also produced “Miekeraso” by Duncan Mighty.

4. Northboi


Recently just after Starboy Music Entertainment announces the Signing of her in-house music producer-Northboi, he wastes no time by creating the hit smashing tune “Socco” which has Wizkid, Ceeza Milli, Spotless and Terri on the tune.

Northboi was the creator of “Posh” by Mayorkun and “Gucci Snake” by Wizkid featuring Slimcase.

In additional note, Gucci Snake by Wizkid and Slimcase was Co-produced by Killertunes.

5. Kel P


When you hear people saying Burna Boy is the king of the year is a results of his two hits songs “Gbona” and “On The Low” which has production credit from Kel P.

Kel P is also known for his unique sound tag”its Kel P Vibes”

6. Roxxie


Just after several months of constant releases of the Shaku Shaku tune, Roxxie did justice by creating the unique Zanku tune. Roxxie came through with likes of “Able God” by Chinko Ekun, Lil Kesh and Zlantan, Zanku (Leg Work) by Zlatan, and “Logo Benz” by Lil Kesh and Olamide.

7. FreshVDM


Fresh is perhaps the leader of the new Nigerian sound. From working on classic tunes and album like Mayorkun’s Debut album – The Mayor Of Lagos Ablum (TMOL) and Peruzzi’s album tittled “Heartwork” EP.

He has displayed much creativity by working on hit singles like Ada by DJ Ecool and Davido, Aza by Davido, Duncan Mighty and Peruzzi, Aje by DMW featuring Davido, Peruzzi and Yonda, Mind by DMW featuring Davido, Peruzzi, Dremo and Mayorkun, and also produced 4U by DJ Ecool featuring Davido and Peruzzi and “Red handed” by Mayorkun which features Peruzzi, Dremo and Yonda.

8. Blaq Jersey


Blaq Jersey produced the fans favourite tune “Fever” by Wizkid which is still receiving massive web downloads and airplay. Fever’s visual stirred African number one bad girl – Tiwa Savage which had lot of controversial scores within an hour of release and it is still the fans favorite till date.

9. Young Jonn (The Wicked Producer)


This guy is with no doubts one of the best music producers in Nigeria, he made 2018 music a remarkable one by creating hits and street tunes like “Science Student” by Olamide which has the video directed by Unlimited LA and also produced See Mary See Jesus by DJ Kaywise featuring Olamide.

Science student became the streets favorite within couple of months and also got massive airplay and web downloads.

10. Sarz


Whenever you hear good music in Nigeria you might definitely have a thought of Sarz-On-The-Beatz.

Sarz prouduced Diet by DJ Enimoney which features Tiwa Savage, Reminisce and Slimcase. He also produced Sade by Wizkid and Gimme Love by Seyi Shay and Runtown.

11. Jaysynths Beatz


While many are saying Teni is the best female artist at the moment and others are saying she’s the Next Rated, it should be noted that Jaysynths Beatz has been the one doing the background jobs to Teni’s amazing vocals and solos..

Jaysynths Beatz made a remarkable year by giving production to all hit tunes by Teni with the like of Case, Pray which features Phyno, Christmas Is Here and Uyo Meyo.



In conclusion, there are many hit Nigerian songs that might not have been produced by these producers which are still fans favorite and we applaud all other producers too.
