Why should FG add more when other states/regions are lacking Federal government universities?

I think the problem is the flight of well to do Igbos from their region leaving mainly the poor in the east.The south east governors should do something about this.

The government s does not know what they are doing!!! Investors needs to invest in industries and factories! We have more than enough university to serve us a lifetime with little or no output!

...what is needed now is technical colleges where students can gain practical knowledge and be useful to the technological development of the nation...not more private universities with exorbitant prices...

The fact that Nigeria is forever doomed is consistently evident in every step taken by this brainless and spineless regime. Successive Nigerian government failed to maintain, fund and strengthen existing universities simultaneously creating private and state owned universities. In saner climes, institutions of higher education often begin as affiliate colleges - just like UCI and FBC in Ibadan and Freetown were colleges of London and Durham Universities. Once fully stabilised, UCI gained independence, becoming University of Ibadan and Fourah Bay college became a constituent college of the University of Sierra Leone. Also, the likes of Liverpool Hope College used to offer Liverpool University degree for more than 100 years of its existence before, in this century, it was granted Royal Charter, to award its own degrees. There are countless other instances. The dumbasses running Nigeria have destroyed it. It would take forever to rebuild its ruins.

Thank you o! They are PRIVATE universities! What stops Igbos from building theirs? All they do is build mansions in their villages, even when they only live there for a week in Christmas.

This idea of the Federal Executive council approving private universities is weird since they are not being funded by the government. Are there no more urgent economics issues to discuss. Government should just cede this approval to the NUC and focus more state matters.

Please get my point right, let us create institutions and regulations that work. Why should the President of a country be presiding over meeting to approve establishment of private universities. They may as well begin to approve establishment of private companies. Why not just create an enabling environment and allow the NUC do it work.
