I was born in this country but never has there been suicides as we have seen in the last three and half years!

When the suffering become too much, they take their lives; when it becomes too much they simply take their lives, ....

So when you decide to vote for the continuity of this government, don't forget the next person to commit suicide might be your loved one

Where is the statistics?

At least you should do small research and present the figures.

Lagos DJ Commits Suicide

popular Disc Jockey (DJ), Seun Omogaji aka djxgee, has reportedly committed suicide by taking sniper. Omogaji took his life about six hours after he posted a suicide note on Instagram.

In the suicide note, the deceased apologised to his children and mum but did not state the reason for his action.

The DJ said he deliberately wore white in the photos he attached to his suicide note instead of black because white was his favourite colour. It was learnt that Omogaji had been having marital issues lately and that could be the reason for his decision to kill himself. “My Mum should forgive me for my action; it was a deliberate act,” he wrote.

Omogaji also called on his younger siblings to forgive him because he had to do what he did.

Ashiat Abdulganiyu stresses in her death note a rough relationship with mother who accuses her of witchcraft. Being without maternal love and issues relating to discovering one's essence, the student opts for suicide, sorry for the pain her passing will cause for friends.

According to Instablog9ja on IG, the late Abdulganiyu had just spent time with her buddies before making the final move to expiry.

Despite a challenging situation with her mum, the deceased still has good thoughts about her even in death.

"Just like I said, if I am no more please hold my family together especially my mom," she is quoted in the post on Instagram.

Sadly, Ashiat Abdulganiyu believes her passing will bring comfort to her loved ones including her brother who at a time had the responsibility of raising her.

Worries, as more Nigerian undergraduates commit suicide

On Monday, an undergraduate of the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Aduba Daniel, reportedly committed suicide by drinking a deadly insecticide known locally as ‘Sniper’.

Daniel was found writhing in pain and immediately rushed to a hospital in the Amassoma area, where it was realised that he had drunk the whole bottle. Also, it was discovered that the deceased had carry-overs in four courses and this must have led him to take his own life.

The incident, as sad as it is, is the latest among several cases of suicide recorded in Nigerian universities between 2017 and 2018.

In October, 2017, a16-year old 100-level student of Microbiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Miss Mercy Afolaranmi, allegedly took her own life by drinking rat poison mixed with battery extracts. The reason given for Afolaranmi’s suicide by sources close to her was “emotional pressure.”

But a female colleague of the deceased in the Faculty of Science hinted that she might have killed herself after scoring an ‘E’ in CHM101, a dreaded course for year one students in the science and technology related faculties.

Uproar in Ibadan community as 50-year-old man commits suicide

There was confusion among residents of Gangansi area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Wednesday night after a fifty-year old man simply identified as Abass was discovered to have hanged himself in his elder brother’s house he was residing.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m., caught the people around the community bewildered after seeing the man just few minutes before he was discovered to have taken his life.

Abass, according to a resident of the area, was a gentleman and a commercial motorcyclist.

The resident, who asked not to be named said, “He has children, both male and female, but his wife is not currently with him. He is in his early fifties. He was living here with us, and this house was built by his brother.

“All we know was that he came back home hale and healthy yesterday evening, but suddenly someone shouted when he saw him dangling from the ceiling of the house. It was the person that alerted us to the ugly incident.

“On getting there we saw him up there, but we noticed one small paper beside him. We took it up and saw that he left a note where he wrote that he intentionally committed suicide because of too much debt he owed people”.

More people are committing suicide

The rapid rise of suicidal cases in Nigeria has given room for great concern.

Last year, a number of people were reported to have dived into the Lagos lagoon in an attempt to take their lives.

Also, a young lady, Dunamis Bibiana Beryl, who seemed to be suffering from depression posted a video of herself as she contemplated on what to do in light of her sad mood.

This had a lot of Nigerians appeal to her in a bid to cheer her up.

Of the recent cases of depression related suicide, the story of Linkin Park's singer Chester Bennington has inspired great morning.
