Hotfreezer:
Definitely, Onnoghen has a deal with PDP and the deal has been leaked.

The reactions to the CJN's issues have been largely from the PDP.

Nigeria is already sharply divided along ethnic and religious lines. This has been further exacerbated by the actions and utterances of Buhari. Now the South-South already feels shortchanged by the now obvious gang-up against Jonathan and as far as they are concerned, it is because he is from the minority. They let it go for peace. Their son (Matthew Seiyefa) was the most senior DSS officer that should have been allowed to remain at the helm of affairs after the former DG, Daura was removed. Besides he had just about a year to retirement. Same Buhari refused and removed him for a retired, junior, northern DG. That wound still festers and now the CJN is suddenly picked on, again a son of the South-South. They will certainly not take it and as far as they are concerned, their region is the goose that lays the golden eggs so they refused to be emasculated at federal/national levels.

It just so happens that the SS has remained a stronghold of the PDP so whenever reactions to the CJN fiasco is made, it appears that it is a PDP affair. Naturally, no APC chieftain will want to be seen to condemn this action because it is their government that has orchestrated the current turn of events. Very few Northerners will even speak because they too, in their characteristic greed, want their son, (I T Mohammed, JSC) to take over as CJN so they hold the entire machinery of government. The reactions you see are mainly from sons of the SS which is only natural. Even Governors of the region have issued a statement and then members of the Bar. Lots of legal experts have also spoken, are they all PDP?

I am not defending APC in this at all.

But the justice system in Nigeria is totally messed up.

When legal luminaries start being partisan, then the incumbent government starts playing illegitimate games.

So as it stands currently in Nigeria, it's either you have a PDP or APC lawyer or judiciary

With PDP at the top PDP lost governorship election at anambra, eso etc. Meaning their is a measure of allowance of the rule of law.

But with APC,u can't win a case against st them cuz dey influence judges and those that refuse to be compromised by dem. Dey dig into ur history and set u against nigerians dt u are corupt hence forcing you to vacate the office. With gullible ppl like you shouting "yes,he should go" as if everyone doesn't hv skeleton in their closet

Go to hell with your cursed oil, We in the southwest can survive without it i dont know about other zones. What else can the yoruba do for jonathan, we tackled the northern cabal in 2010 to make him the acting president and voted for him in 2011 only for his 'buodas' to hijack his government and cornered everything. I repeat go to hell with your oil.

Now you are coming close to what it should be. The so-called unity of Nigeria is fake! Every homogeneous region should be allowed to handle its affairs and stop demanding for or expecting crude/proceeds of crude from the SS without commensurate regard and consideration. Obviously Nigeria is an exercise in futility and since the powers that be have refused to work out the restructuring of the country then let it go bust! That way the SS can go to hell with their oil and the SW can go to hell with whatever it has too! Simple isn't it? grin grin cheesy cheesy

Hmm.. Nigeria.

The rate of reactions to this issue, it shows the ethical decadence in the society.

And I am beginning to think APC perhaps went after Onnoghen because PDP had a deal of the upcoming elections with him.

Otherwise, I don't expect this much fight back.

Something is definitely at stake for PDP.

Doing the right thing is what is paramount

The apc govt goofed on this one.

legal luminaries have all said it.

but the govt is insistent undecided

The rate at which this useless govt is going, there may be no country to run soon.

we the Niger Delta people of Imo, Abia and Ondo wish to inform you that we are not part of this development as we were not consulted before our south south (pant stealing Niger delta) brothers took this wrong decision.

we (IMO, Abia, ondo) are patriotic Nigerians and loyal to you Buhari. we are never going to the creeks. all our oil and natural gas is for Nigeria.

the pant Steelers and their leader Asari is never a treat to the unity of this great country, I assure you

“Therefore, we want to inform Nigerians and the international community that any attempt by President Buhari to continue in office beyond May 2019, will be resisted by all means necessary.

“If they succeed in rigging election and bring back Buhari, then, Nigeria should prepare to exist without the Niger Delta oil. Niger Delta will not be part of Nigeria anymore.

“The northerners should also prepare to leave the Niger Delta if President Buhari continues beyond May 2019; we are prepared to strike once and for all and declare our Sovereign Niger Delta Republic.

“What, however, surprises us is the fact that the same people and groups that protested against the petroleum subsidy removal and increases in prices of the petroleum products are the ones who gave President Buhari the nod to commence the subsidy removal without any record of protests,” the agitators stated."

Niger Delta republic isn't possible without the inclusion of Igbos , the north and south west would fight and the Niger Deltans would be out matched without the Igbos

if the Niger Delta wants liberation they should talk with the Igbos and reach an agreement it doesn't have to be called "Biafra"

but an alliance is the only way possible for liberation of the old eastern region

Makes no sense. The NSCDC is giving them a huge blow. If you declare a full war, they can't handle it. Unlike in the north where we're battling with terrorism, millitancy will be well contained in case of a full scale war and innocent citizens will also bear the grunt.

Done special ops with the DSS and several of the real militants leaders have been haunted down in serval joint operations.. Undermining the power of a country's security will put you in huge trouble. Bokoharam is like this because there are several things attached to it.

We've had several clash with foreign nations and we're always ready to put our a heavy blow but it's not so when dealing with bokoharam.

Was the DSS and so called special oops not opeartional during Yara Dua's time? Guerilla warfare ain't easy to fight in a terrain you don't even know.

These guys can cripple the economy well. Don't even start what everyone will suffer. Even with dwinddling oil prices, low daily production will just kill the cancerous economy.

Judicial officers are usually silent, even reticent on things like this. If you paid any attention, you would have noticed that in all that drama of raiding judges' homes and charging them to court, none of them made any statement explaining, accepting or denying anything. That was mainly done by other members of the judiciary and public opinions. Judicial officers have very stringent conditions for making any public speeches or addresses on i]any issue to maintain neutrality and preclude any possible appearance of bias. The fact that the timing is wrong due to the coming elections and the clear ethnic/tribal divisions in this country silences every other question or consideration at this time especially if the FG is deliberately unwilling to follow the rule of law. There is a proper procedure for investigating and arraigning a judge, that was not followed in this instance.

If Buhari can refuse to sign the amended Electoral Act more than 2 months to elections because he feels it is too close and will supposedly cause confusion in its implementation, why will the FG attempt this nonsense now? Oil belongs to the entire Nigeria abi? Is the entire Nigeria bearing the brunt of environmental damage and deprivation as the ND does? The ND indigenes will explain better to you!

You can easily know when someone from the south west make a comment on this platform.
They claim Buhari is their own.
Lets see how that will change their lots when the chips are down.
They should know that the next civil war will take place in their domain.
