The Isaac Egbuniro Prize is an annual award, launched in 2018 to promote and support upcoming writers in Nigeria. It is awarded to writers of short stories published in English. Unpublished works by authors are also eligible.
In its second year, the prize was first launched in 2018, with The Angels and The Fugitives an unpublished work written by Reginald Obetta clinching the award prize.

For this year’s edition, the winning of the prize award will be going home with a cash prize of N30, 000.
Entries are now open for the 2019 edition, and all candidates are expected to read the eligibility guidelines to avoid disqualification.


Eligibility Guidelines – 2019 Isaac Egbuniro Prize

The Isaac Egbuniro Prize is open to books by young writers who are either Nigerian citizens or permanent residents of Nigerian at the time of entry.
To be eligible for entry in the 2019 prize, books must be original work of the author
Only fiction books are eligible for the prize.
Published eBook form and unpublished work are only eligible for entry.
Entries must be in English only.
All entries should be:

a) At least 10,000 words
b) In Ms. Word
c) Typed in Arial (12 font size) with 1.5 spacing.

All entries must be submitted on or before 31st April 2019

The Isaac Egbuniro Prize winner will be announced in June 2019
