theoldpretender: When they have poor service nko. I remember I used to queue at phone booth to call my Aunt in Kaduna, after that I remember we bought NITEL card that you just insert in phone When mobiles came it was stupidly expensive along with mtn lines. People bought it because of the quality of service they provided My point is some people ate NITEL, corruption killed NITEL. There was a time when yiy had to climb rocks or trees for network to make calls These days 4G is our portion even in Kaduna villages Let's call a spade a spade 1 Like |

Nigeria is ducked up, APC presidential candidate is a thief and dictator, PDP presidential candidate is even worse. Where do we run to, o GOD help Nigeria. The best thing for Nigeria is to divide the country let everybody rule their self. |

seunmsg: Many who are rooting for Atiku know he is a crook. They have never refuted that! Even here on Nairaland! Unfortunately for you isn't Atiku's crooked ways arent't the issue but Buhari's perceived competence or incompetence. The question you should ask yourself is how has Buhari's economic performance been? This is the primary reason fueling their dislike for the man Economic growth under Buhari has averaged 1% yearly over the past 3years if the 2.6% decline in 2016 is factored in Growth rate in 2017 was only 1.81% and government forecast it to hit 3.01% in 2019. Non government forecast project only 2% economic growth rate however So is a 3% economic growth rate good or bad? Nigeria's population is growing at 2.5% per annum. That means a 3% increase in the economy will translate into a real economic growth rate of only 0.5% in the per capita income of people. For the economy to grow fast enough to create enough jobs for those entering the labour force annually it needs to grow by 7%. That means a 3% growth (which forecasters have argued is even too generous a projection) is far from creating enough jobs for those entering the labour force yearly. That partly explains the growing unemployment rate over the past 3years. The decline in GDP by 2.6% in 2016 caused a severe recession and the closure of large amount of companies and the loss of millions of jobs. This accounts for the rest Even during the Abacha era yearly economic growth was better. The country averaged about 2.5% yearly. It is the poor growth performance and the suffering and poverty associated with it that has left the people seething and believe he is incompetence. From 1999 to 2013 the economy grew by 6.7% on the average yearly despite high levels of corruption. People were expecting far better results from Buhari but the complete reverse has been the case. The Naira collapsed from 200 t0 360 (One time hitting 550) prices of goods have almost doubled and unemployment rate is skyhigh I want to ask you a question. Why did the economy do so poorly under Buhari? Was it because PDP had left the country in such a bad state hence he couldn't perform. Is the present bad state of the economy the price the economy has to pay to get things right after the PDP years? The truth is sadly is no. The economy collapse was caused by Buhari's pegging of the Naira at 197 to a $1 upon assumption of office in 2015. This led to severe foreign exchange scarcity that deprived companies of needed raw materials and capital goods that led to the closure of many and eventual;ly a recession Soludo Utomi condemned the peg. Lamido Sanusi was so unrelenting in condemning the peg that the FG said they won't join issues with him Go through the list of threads I created and you'll see that of Sanusi complaining about the peg Though the Naira has been devalued since then, there's still a huge difference between the official rate and the parallel rate which simply encourages round tripping 2 Likes 1 Share |
