mrvitalis: But ASUU didn't raise this issue today.. It was since 2017 when they signed a MoA... What can you say about that?? |
Re: ASUU Replies FG Today As Members Reject Tokenism by bahaushe1: 11:40am On Jan 15, 2019 |
Ehiscotch: Universities receive research grants and endowment funds from various sources. Because of the peculiarities of these funds the money can't be domicile in TSA. FGN has already exampted these funds from TSA. It is no longer an issue. As for signing agreement with previous government, let this government honour the 2017 MoA it willingly entered with ASUU. And you may wish to educate youself on Universities revitalization funds. Public Universities have already received their share of 20 billion naira for infrastructural development courtesy of current strike while no ASUU member has received any material benefit yet. |

PassingShot: You obviously are ignorant of the issues. This government promised to release 20 Billion naira to Nigeria's public Universities in 2017 but failed, it took them a whole year to do so. This government promised to conduct forensic audit of payment of earned allowance and once that is done it will settle the outstanding arrears. They conducted the audit but refused to make the report available to ASUU. They only released it after the commencement of current strike. The audit put the outstanding balance of earned allowance at 105 billion naira for the period between 2009 to 2016. Instead of keeping their word and upset the 105 billion they now want to pay just 20 billion out of it and with no clear timeline for the payment of the remaining 85 billion naira. From December 2015 some MDAs started experiencing shortfall in salary allocation from FGN to such an extant that some had to take overdraft or otherwise pay fractional salaries to their staff. FGN set up a committee to look at this however despite the committee's report some Universities were not paid. It took current strike for the government to settle the 15.4 billion naira salary shortfall arrears. Now tell me how are the previous governments the problem. And how do you expect ASUU to believe this government after failing to keep their word the last time it suspended strike on promises. Blaming others has become the trademark of this government. |

220 billion in each quarter for 5 consecutive quarters? These people are thief. The money they are requesting for in just one quarter is what states like Zamfara spend as budget in 3 years. |
Re: ASUU Replies FG Today As Members Reject Tokenism by IamAtikulate: 12:15pm On Jan 15, 2019 |
mrvitalis:They are not asking for 220 billion every year, but every 3 months. They are requesting for 1.1 Trillion over 15 months. |

Re: ASUU Replies FG Today As Members Reject Tokenism by bahaushe1: 12:24pm On Jan 15, 2019 |
KINGwax007: Yes you heard right, 1.1 billion naira. FGN set up a NEEDs assessment team at the instance of ASUU to study the infrastructural need of Nigeria's public Universities. The team put the infrastructural need of the Universities at over a trillion naira. FGN failed to take any action on the report of that committee until ASUU strike of 2013. One of the agreements of that strike (2013 MoU) is that FGN is to immediately release 200 billion naira to Nigeria's public Universities for infrastructural development and to be releasing 220 billion naira annually for the next five years for the same purpose. After releasing the first 200 billion naira no further release was made in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. During the 2017 strike FGN said they do not have money to settle the accumulated arrears but agreed to release 20 billion naira immediately and to set up a 7 man committee to identity means and sources of funds to upset the balance (2017 MoA). But once the strike was suspended no committee was set up and the 20 billion naira was not released. It took the current strike to get the 20 billion naira promised in 2017 released. |
