Let me translate the only Hausa word in your question and see if it makes sense in your question.

The point i am driving, using the new IGP as a case, you or most people will say he is from the north forgetting he is actually from the NC.

But when Okwonkwo is appointment, you dont say he is from the South, we say he is from the SE.

Referring to appointments to the north as Northerners is portraying the 3 geopolitical zones in the north as one.

With this argument, the new IGP Adamu is not from the North but from the North Central.
