fsho: Nothing special about Nigeria but I'm just talking in population and being organized.. Nigeria is just difficult to gorvern. Not what I give some1 who is inexperienced to rule. Pls Sowore is not there yet let's tell ourselves the truth and stop all this. He would have went for chairmanship or house of assembly. Then try presidency in years to come, he would have gained more trust and followers. Nigerians would be stupid to allow inexperienced Sowore be Into power this time. everything will crash BELIVE me |

Glink2018: How is Buhari in any Nigerian’s interest I wonder? What has he achieved in all honesty? The economy is in a worse state than when he inherited it. Boko Haram still ravage the North. Calls for succession have been revived in the South East... Unless you are an APC senator or governor, how is another Buhari term in your interest...? Chai... Nigeria is difficult to govern? Is this a fact or an assumption? Which national research or consensus can you cite? What metrics are required for a country like Nigeria? Can you briefly point out some of the complexities that someone like Sowore cannot tackle. It is not a crime if he is not a billionaire. So, he should go ahead to contest for chairmanship, loot and come back with more of the same. I am really getting tired. I know I have tried with you. I can't go beyond this. You simply don't get it and it's shocking! Please do not complain that you have bad leaders in Nigeria because it is clear that you do not know what a dignified life really is. You are free to continue with Atiku/Buhari. And after the next four years do not complain of the life you have been given, because you were one of those who were slow to get it. I know it will become clearer as time goes on. All the best. Kellibae: 3 Likes |

Is this how desperate Nigerians have become for change that they can't see through this guy? This guy is unstable and lacks principles. Very immature, which is very glaring. He's not even trying to restrict it, which makes him the worst person to put in any spotlight I'm glad Channels saw that clearly |

Someone has to clarify things for those who reason by analogy. I have other things to do, but it is painful and disappointing to see that the pride and dignity of our youths have deteriorated to this level. To make things worse, the conditioning that things cannot drastically change is quite common here. I am passionate about my country's development, we are the most populous Black nation in the world. We should be respected and not denigrated by anyone, anywhere on this Earth. SouthWestBlood: 4 Likes |

fsho: I appreciate your comments and that of few others who dare to be reasonable and choose to say the truth,no matter the circumstance.unfortunately ours is a country of sycophants who only choose to see tins from their own perspectives only, while not tolerating others.Funny enough, same ppl who r claiming sowore is uncouth in his words have been using the most derogatory and uncouth words in the dictionary in this thread.Same ppl applauded the dirty campaigns of both pdp and apc as broadcast especially on AIT in 2015.The same ppl applauded Fela when he fought with his music using the same "uncouth" words. Somebody even mentioned mandela, i sincerely wonder if they listened to the audio of mandela''s speeches during the struggle b4 he was jailed. My question to them is this, can anyone state explicitly the uncouth words sowore used in that broadcast?Did any of them watch Trump during his campaign & listen to him speak? They woud have probably called him even worse names. If sowore words r uncouth for calling a serial looter a thief and a clueless retrogessive president just that, then why have we chosen to call black white just bcoz it's our favourite color?I feel for our generation and the ones coming, cox we haven't learnt our lessons.Until we r ready and take deliberate actions to break out of this vicious cycle of voting in ppl with "couth" words but cold-blooded murderers and thieves into public offices. 9 Likes |

Going by my logic, you are unfit to rule a country like Nigeria especially with Sowore's personality. You really do not want to compare both. Mandela was a political leader who held several political positions before he was elected the president. He worked with policy makers. He drafted policies. His influence and intelligence were so remarkable that he won his first election hands down. Do you know what Mandela did to the white supremacist when he became the president? He did not go about punishing them, rather he tried to bridge the past with future. IMO, restorative justice was the way to go. It showed the kind of man he was. Now, contrast it with what Mugabe did when he became the president. Hint, what do you think Sowore would have done if he were in their position. Hint- he would have acted like Mugabe, lots of good that did the Zimbabweans. Reform should not come from someone with so much unresolved issues. Will you with a straight face look at Sowore's manifesto and his reasons for running for government and say this will work? Our economy relies completely and solely on corruption. Without it, you go suffer. You think Buhari early months, with the effects of his anti-corruption speeches and autocratic attitude, were suffering, they will be nothing compared with what you will have with Sowore. Unfortunately, this is not the middle ages or early 90s, the world is global now. Actions will have serious economic and political consequences-well, except you are part of the major league. And guess what, the likelihood of coming out of it is a chance I am not willing to take. It won't be like Japan, Oh no, I almost forgot that Japan is not as diverse as Nigeria. Even Iran is yet to achieve such feat, they started late and how many years has it been and it has started crashing? Basically, we can't suddenly become an anti-corrupt nation. We the people are not ready, the system is not designed to be anti-corruption. A true manifesto will not read that a Youth corper salary's should be increased to N50k or propose to create jobs out of thin air (are you forgetting that our private companies thrives because of corruption). Fight against corruption has to be systematic, you can't suddenly come in and weed it out. A manifesto for a reformed Nigeria will be talking about bringing determinants together. It doesn't need to mention corruption, jobs or increasing salaries. We need practical solutions like TSA. Solutions that start with reforming and cutting bureacracy in government, institutions that encourage public accountability, government backed community policing, active PTA involvement in public schools etc. We are talking about a man that is not yet the president but is alre ady very petty. Sahara Reporters is a good project, I give him that. Let him gain proper political experience in Nigeria and see how he performs, then we can talk. I will definitely like to see how he transforms his local government. Note, I didn't talk about Obama because I think you are comparing apples with oranges fsho: |

They're worried about a man mincing words thinking it's like every other election where you can carelessly throw a name in a bucket a run home, not worrying about how it affects people for the next 4 years and beyond. I tip my hat to Nigerians sha. They're very patient people. With the hardships plaguing our country such us being the most improverished nation on earth by a landslide, terrorism, mass killing, oil pollution, corruption, and one comedian claming a magical snake swallowed N36 million, I'm in awe that people haven't attempted anything drastic. 6 Likes |

Thanks for your response. I am glad we are having this discussion. Mandela was a national president of the ANC Youth League and lead protests against Apartheid government. His activities were within the the confines of the ANC party, which in reality was a movement to end Apartheid rule. Kindly cite the public offices that Mandela held before becoming president. I think keen readers will appreciate that. Further, policies of restorative justice addressed the concerns of South Africa. This is why we need to shift our critical thinking from reasoning by analogy to reasoning with fundamental truths. Solutions to Nigeria's problem are not going to come by simply copying what worked in other countries especially with regards to corruption. Although we are both fighting oppression, the problem Mandela addressed is quite different from what we are plagued with in Nigeria. There's was racial and ours is that our fundamental human rights are not taken seriously. We the citizens are taken for granted and expected to be alive through the next four years when it is time for another election. No one cares which lives were lost, what government failures and obsolete policies were responsible....you know no one asks provocative questions that poke the conscience of our 'so-called leaders'. Hence, no one is held responsible. Which is why men like Atiku and Buhari still have the courage to contest for an election in Nigeria. Now, you compared Sowore to Mugabe and in the same space and attacked the feasibility of his manifesto. Then you said Sowore has unresolved issues. All this shows is that you have a bias for the people who have looted this country its is current state. So no problem here. Then proceeded to say that our country relies on corruption and say we will suffer. The simple way to address you assertion here is this: If you have good transportation system(air and rail for example), 24/7 electricity, subsidized health care, good hospitals, take care of the retired workers, provide assistance to the disenfranchised, you will gradually reduce corruption at the lowest-level. The most corrupt people are the poliitians who continue to steal despite all they have stolen. So, a good & guaranteed quality of life reduces anxieties or need to steal for the future (for civilians). For politicians, we can agree that Sowore is disruptive and outspoken on his plans to make our past leaders pay for their crimes (since looting is a crime). There is no way we won't tame corruption to a reasonable level. He has the guts! Then you said "A true manifesto will not read that a Youth corper salary's should be increased to N50k or propose to create jobs out of thin air (are you forgetting that our private companies thrives because of corruption).". His proposal for what to pay workers and on job creations are well thought-out! For concreteness, funding 1000 entrepreneurs in 774 local governments across Nigeria is not a vague plan. It is doable! Building houses across the country implicitly creates more jobs. Bringing 200k health professionals from abroad to improve our health sector is feasible. Training 160K teachers to send back to schools to give our kids quality education is also possible. And the mininmum wage of 100K is retained within Nigeria as opposed to the billions stolen by politicians and used to purchase and invest in properties outside Nigeria... I can't possibly write his full manifesto here, so excuse me. The aforementioned are all practical solutions. You can not reform a country that is impoverished and lacking integrity-based institutions. No reform will be effective if the human resources in charge are not properly incentivized and monitored. So cutting bureaucracy down, for example is abstraction over a functional system. Without a functional system, you can not reform anything. And what are the main components of any functional system? Yes, humans/workers/citizens. If you don't address the human component, you are going no where. Then, you say he is very petty, belittle his accomplishments with Sahara Reporters (a registered company), and say he does not have enough experience. This is your real position. We could have started the conversation from here - meaning that you just wasted my time. Sterope: 4 Likes |

A movement that confined a great deal of political experience. He was many times a political leader for several years. He knew politics, understood and fought freedom, equalty and democracy. Also, do you really want compare the needs of an apartheid regime with Nigeria? Also, you should be aware of what it is to have transferable skills and experience, don't you?. Let your man handle his local government first! I don't have affinity for looters. Unlike you, I love to consider my options. This was exactly the same issue I had with Buhari supporters then. Sowore doesn't have a shot at winning but it is the same blind followership all over again. I still stand by my opinion, sowore has some unresolved issues. How are you going to fund all these projects? With what money? With what resources? Have you seen the size of us? Let me guess, from the same private enterprises that are fully funded with corrupt proceeds? The same companies that may even lose majority of their shareholders if they consider the political environment unfavourable? You think economics is like the way some people think giving 1 million naira is a perfect example of how wealthy we are as a nation? Like I said, the fight against corruption in the global world today must be very systematic. Politics and economics are very interwined and corruption is deeply entrenched in our systems. You don't want to risk destroying the nation when you think you are saving it. fsho: |

We are taking this out of context. But to indulge you again, what characterizes the Apartheid regime? We are equally being violated and systematically gamed. Don't you get it? People are dying everyday and our government can't protect us or they don't care. Only a select few are enjoying the resources of this country. People are internally displaced? Can you draw some similarities? Do I have to keep repeating this? On transferrable skills. If that mattered in governing Nigeria, then Buhari should have been the best President, since he has 'transferrable skills'. Our past leaders had what you termed transferable skills ask yourself this: why are we in this mess of a country? since you think it makes a difference. So, you really have no point here also. It is clear that those with the 'so-called experience' have delivered nothing to the citizens. Why do you want to keep rewarding them with more promotion. Not that it matters at this point, but his activism could also count for experience. For example, when what was most important to Nigerians was having a democratic rule and taking our government from the Military, who do you think was part of the youths that lead the protests while your so-called experienced leaders were hiding? The democracy you all enjoy since 1999 was fought for by Sowore and his peers (as the SUG president) and it is on record. You can verify this with a little investigation. None of your current crop of leaders have been more engaged with Nigeria politically over the last 30 years. Quote me! Nobody is blindly supporting Sowore. If you ask me, I think you are the obstinate one, failing to heed reason. With regards to funding, I think you have not seriously been engaged with the state of affairs in Nigeria. We have guaranteed revenue generation from oil but we do not even need to go there to be able to fund most of what he proposes. Nigerian FIRS made over 5trn last year, Jamb made trn, port authority disclosed that they made some money. It goes on.... What is Nigeria's budget? 8trn or thereabout. I do not even need to got to the Oil sector. Do you see the reasoning surrounding this? Revenue from only FIRS alone has covered more than half of the budget (you can verify this). So, the idea going around that there are no resources to cater for most of these things is largely deceptive. And for economic theorists who always believe things will not work since they don't like the ideas of the Man in question, I have one thing to say: Practicality is what matters, not what you think the ideal situation should be. In fact, let me ask you, which of his alternatives (Buhari and Atiku, specifically) provide us sound economic policies that you so much resonate with? Clearly point this out to the readers. If you are attacking Sowore for what he lacks, kindly point out which of the old guards is better in that aspect and state your reasons. Since you firmly believe they can do a better job. Attacking his personality is what you are all accusing Sowore of doing! Isn't that hypocritical? I am ready to debate you to any length and I will not insult you! Sterope: 5 Likes |
