18 year old Chimezie Aronu, one of the three suspects nabbed for robbing and fatally shooting one Ifeanyi Nwanga at Ifitedunu, has confessed to accidentally shooting the deceased saying that he did not know the victim died from the gunshot wound.

Others arrested alongside Aronu were Chibuike Omankwu and Uchenna Obiora who all confessed to the crime and led the officers to where they hid the gun they shot the victim with. A cut to size single barrel gun and one cartridge were recovered from them.

Aronu, in his confession said that he had dropped out of SS2 when his parents could no longer pay for his education and after learning how to barb, joined a gang that robs people at deserted places.

He said that they had robbed a lady of her itel phone and were making away on a bike when an okada operator (Ifeanyi Nwanga) made to block them. He said he mistakenly pulled the trigger and shot the man. He said that he and his gang were caught by people of Umunnachi community and handed over to the police.

The trio were among the 13 suspects between the ages of 18 and 24, paraded by the Anambra state Police command at the police headquarter for various crimes.

Another robbery suspect Obum Rapuruchukwu, in his confession before newsmen said that he belonged to a gang of four who specialize in robbing cars. Other members of his gang who were also caught were Emeka Iheanacho, Nwobodo Kosichukwu and Ekene Edeh.

They were arrested by police operatives attached to the special anti-robbery squad for robbing one Chizoba of Nsugbe of his Acura Jeep with Reg No AA 114.

Another car snatching syndicate among the paraded were Ebuka Emekwite and Uchendu Afunwa who confessed to conspiring and robbing one Linus Emeka of his Lexus jeep. The Lexus jeep (with registration number ENU 779 NX) and one berretta pistol with six rounds of live ammunition of 0.9 mm were recovered from the suspects.

Clement Mmaduabuchi, caught by the criminal investigation department with a fabricated pistol and six live cartridges confessed to being an armed robber.

According to Garba Baba Umar, Anambra state commissioner of police who led the parade, Mmaduabuchi is “presently assisting the police with useful information that would help in arresting his accomplices and bring them to justice.”

The CP thanked members of the public for assisting the police in capturing the suspects and encouraged them to report any suspicious person to the nearest police station or through the command emergency number 07039194332.

Do these people think of the implications the possibility of getting caught being before embarking on their robbery mission?

We're they going to rob bill gate; if not would they have shared the money coz there are too many of them....
